Prophecy; "Food At The Proper Time"? ...or food for the BEAST?

watchtower literature, according to watchtower dogma, is not mere 'literature'... like any other literature from some "worldly" source, ...but rather it is "spiritual food" given by christ's appointed "slave" at "the proper time" and in fulfillment of bible prophecy.

JW's opinions on bunker video

the so called bunker video isn't just getting attention here but among jws as well.

i've heard a fair share of cracks, some half joking half serious about the prospect of the video playing out in real life .

but something else i've heard is that the video was meant to be figurative, an illustration representing the 'interior rooms' prophecy..

When discussing the video with local dubs, I refer to the men/soldiers who come in to the room/bunker as FBI.

For instance I say "... and when the FBI came crashing into the compound where the brothers are holed up, I thought for sure the 'Angel of Death' that slew the 185,000 would appear to protect the brothers and I was disappointed that the brothers would not get saved"

I use as many 'Waco Texas' references as I can fit in to the conversation.

Good to note that the dubs around here DO NOT want to talk about how that video ended. They want to forget it and create a new fantasy in their mind to replace it.

I am of the belief that most dubs wanted to draw a parallel between the ancient and the modern day, as has been the case in the past.

Perhaps, as time progresses, I will have the opportunity to hear from local dubbers, and to see how they felt about the application of the ancient story of the 185k slaughter and the modern application.

I personally expected that when they showed the hallway at the end, with the local authorities getting ready to make their move, that the Watchtower would have been creative and 'Jehovahs mighty hand would swoop in to miraculously save the day'....

I personally sensed dissatisfaction and disappointment on the part of the audience. And this disappointment is carried forward in the way of not wanting to talk about the video.

Good question. I haven't studied on this topic in a good while, and when I read your reply I went a lookin'...

I had all this information compiled somewhere about three computers ago. Now you ask me and I'm not finding anything. Looks like I have to start at the beginning with ancient Jerusalem

Crazyguy. It would be easy to say that "the generation" was Jesus' own generation... that when Jesus said "this" he indeed meant "this", referring to his own generation. ("this"...not 'that' or 'those')

That is the truth. Easy.

I say that knowing, however, that you are then going to move on to the next question(s).

1) What about the fact that the second coming, spoken of in subsequent verses didn't happen then?

2) What about the "sign of the Son of man"?

3) How is it that it is written that this "tribulation" would be a one-time-deal "such as had not occurred up till that time nor would happen again"?

And while you are at it, 4,5,6,7,8,9,...

117) How is it that Jesus said "not a stone would be left upon a stone" and yet there were many stones left on many other stones till this day, even an entire tower stands till today?

Answering the question about the generation will not be enough for you or anyone, unless you answer them all.

And they have answers.

Invest the time.

governing body was a fiction, not only would they refuse to believe you--they'd consider you their immediate enemy!.

However, there is one important thing you missed, partly because you concentrated on the work of Christendom's scholars.

Now, when I say this, I don't want you to go off on a loop. Stay calm. Maintain the same even keel I saw in your work. And for God's sake remember, I am not pro-wt in any manner of speaking. I am just a bible student. And I've been on this board 15 years.

Don't flip out. You haven't done nearly enough reading to be justified in standing on the ledge yelling 'I'm gonna jump'...

I didn't say that this group was ordained by God or desirable by Christ. Nor did I say that Acts speaks of a 'governing body' in those words.

The term, in fact, is a modern one and it comes to us honestly, via US Corporate Law. It was the "Governing Body of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society Inc. of Pennsylvania NY", specifically the Pres, vice pres and board of directors, same as any other corporation registered in the good 'ol US of A. In the year 2000, the legal governing body stepped aside and a new governing body of the WTBTS Inc was appointed. And the spiritualized GB was invented, made up of the FORMER Pres, Vice Pres and Board of Directors.

See, I'm an 'apostate' just like you. LOL

In the first century, there was a group or body of 'governors' who asserted their power.

1) It did exist. This can be established conclusively.

2) They had activities. Also established from the scriptures.

3) The Apostle Paul expressed his view on them and their work. Established.

4) Paul sought to work with them. Established.

5) The warning we get from the account of them and their activities as well as Paul's words should dissuade any Christian group from establishing another group or body in their likeness.

The point is, what were they all about, what were their activities. How did the Apostle Paul feel about them?

That they existed and did stuff is undeniable.

There's a lot to discuss to 'get there'. I can't just paste it all. Just like when you sat down to post you spent the day, I would have to do the same. My time is tight. But I would like to discuss it.

The Watchtower is 'master of it's own demise.' It's just a matter of time. And that time grows short.

Watchtower will not survive the next economic shock, a shock only hinted at by the events of 2007-2008.

Next up... when the buildings are sold in NY, the money will not be spoken of. Asking about it will be likened to apostasy.

Again, fantastic video. I was impressed with the devotion to the slave that these actors demonstrated, having a stick inserted up their asses so they could move like that.
