  this goes back a year ago, my mom was trying to get me to go to the district convension b/c there was a major announcement being made.

  of course i didn't go (why go back after all these years?).

  anyway, she called me when it was over and i asked her what the announcement was.

  the watchtower continues to encourage jw parents to alienate their children from people who are not jws and therefore discourage a more balanced view of the world and the people in it!.

  september 15th watchtower, 2007 says on page11:.

  'of course, our children's attitudes can be influenced both for good and for bad.

  A friend of mine who is a teacher's assistant told me that she overheard a pre-kindergarten little Jehovah's Witness girl , in the school bathroom , saying the Pledge of Allegiance. She wasn't allowed to say it in the classroom, but in order to be like her classmates she repeated it to herself when she was alone. How heartbreaking.

  i'll start.. i love the jerky boys and "prank" candid camera/punked types of humor.. i also love r&b, soul, funk and disco.. now what can you tell us about yourself that we might've never guessed?.

  I have the sincere desire to awaken in the morning as a six foot tall, pure white eagle with a twelve

  foot wingspan. I will then crash through my bedroom window and fly toward the beach where I will

  climb to thousands of feet so I may shoot my way toward earth at hundreds of miles per hour only to

  pull up at the last moment and shoot upward once again. I will then drift with the wind toward the

  palace where my love is held captive by a wicked ( and perverted ) midget. Seeing her in chains

  through the tower window from my 10,000 foot flight my blood rushes and I dive toward

  my love. I assult the tower as I would my bitterest enemy and enter the room where my love, my

  life, my world awaits me. But, what do I find? I find the wide screen TV turned on, the surround

  sound blasting away, my love on the couch with the perverted midget sitting on her lap, and

  as she feeds him grapes they watch "Deep Throat" with Linda Lovelace.

  The moral of the story? A bird, no matter how big and beautiful, is no match for a midget with an

  imagination.

  For Christians: Grace vs. Forgiveness

  i have been trying to sort this out scripturally, and would like to get input from christians on how these two concepts differ and/or overlap.

  please be liberal with scriptures to support statements.

  i think there may be others who are trying to figure this out for themselves, too.

  AuldSoul . . .sorry, I cannot back up this post with Scripture, but I feel I must once again pass this on to all ( I've posted this twice in the two or so years I've been visiting this site ).

  In 1980 I was partying with some friends and a fight broke out between a man and myself. I hurt him quite bad. He was able to find a handgun and as I faced him he shot me in the abdomen. He fled with his girlfriend. I was knocked to the floor by the impact of the bullet. I knew I was going to die for I had been shot with a .357 Magnum pistol, and nobody lives after being gut shot with one of those.

  I really don't know why but I was not afraid to die, however, I did not want to die and so I prayed. I prayed for more time to live and I also prayed for the man that shot me. I asked God to forgive the man, for I did not want my death on his head when he stood before God at his death.

  After I awoke in the hospital I naturally wanted to check out my wounds. The bullet, which was fired from point blank range, was such that it entered and exited me at an inexplicable angle. An angle where the gun could only have been fired from a height of 5-6 feet, which of course it was not.

  My point is that because I asked God to forgive the man, He bestowed Grace on me and allowed me to live. And only through Divine Intervention did the bullet take the path that it did. God knew that I was going to pray to Him as I lay dieing; that is why He saved me.

  I live with this experience daily; I have -except for this forum-only told eight people. I know two for sure that believe me. And even after all these years I don't know what to do . . what to reallydo and how I am supposed to feel.

  In reading your post I found several Scriptures that spoke directly to me and my experience. Thank you very much.
