I believe that many of the 1975'ers just could not accept the fact that they were fooled by " God's Organization" . . .they chose to believe in the Society's ' truth' ( rather than take an honest look at themselves ) and their unquestioning following of those that appeared to have all the answers.

The Watchtower - Making the case for social responsibility
by truthseeker inover the last couple of years, much has been said about the charitable status of the watchtower bible & tract society.
it seems to be more and more the case, that the watchtower is a taker and not a giver.. .
they claim to be modelled after the 1st century christian congregation - yet they can't perform even the most basic of charitable works.

As we all know if the WTBTS were to make an effort toward social responsibility then they would be involved in ' worldly ' activities. This ,of course, means that they would be stepping out of the realm of being separate from the rest of us ( the world ) and thus losing some of the power of their mystique that binds the followers.

To Shun Or Follow The American System?
by Englishman ina recent poll suggests that over 90% of americans believe in god.
this compares to around 48% of brits who believe in god's existence.. even the devoutly religious tony blair doesn't want britain to follow in the religious footsteps of the usa, as he clearly states here as he risks incurring the displeasure of george w: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4369481.stm.
so, as a person whose criticism of the us is confined mainly to it's penal system, i was wondering this: do you think that the more religious a country becomes, the harsher it's treatment is of those who err, harsh punishment being seen as a christian virtue?.

Did You Feel Superior To Those People Who Only Ever Came To The Memorial?
by Englishman inwe did.. we used to call them "memorial saints".
they were the fringe members, the fallen away, the disfellowshipped, those who had their own private pipeline to jehovah, bible studies, good-will, disinterested husbands, delinquent kids, prophets, lunatics and uncle tom cobley and all.. in short, all the weirdo's that could be mustered together on just one night of the year.
but it got the numbers up.

As a non- Witness I did the same thing. I attended church on a regular basis, so when Easter or Christmas was celebrated and all these unfamiliar faces showed up at church I felt like, ' Just look at these people will you. They attend church only on the holiest of days . . . such nerve ! ' I was young and stupid. I've grown up.What amazes me is that, obviously, a lot of people don't allow for their minds to explore and experience the world beyond their ' induced self ' and thus corralling the gift of chance experience that God, through life, gives us.
Sometimes I feel very ashamed.
