I think your post made alot of sense and described how most people in this country think and believe about the victims of Katrina. It is so very sad to see children who have been put through this staggering ordeal because of their parent's irresponsibilty.
It's obivious to me that the major of New Orleans tried to place the blame on the federal gov't ( Bush) just as other black leaders did. The Rev. Al Sharpton said, and I quote , " If the people had been whiter and wealther, then help would have arrived much sooner." This man loves to play the race card every chance he gets, even at the expense of his dead 'brothers and sisters'.
WHAT THE F... IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE !

Why Violence in New Orleans?
by MegaDude init will be a while before everything shakes out about why things went to hell in a handbasket in new orleans but here's one opinion from an article on the net.. ------------------------------------------------------------.
it has taken four long days for state and federal officials to figure out how to deal with the disaster in new orleans.
the man-made disaster is the welfare state.

I guess some people haven't been paying attention. This type of crisis , by law, is first handled by the local politicians and the governor of the state. That is the protocol. Once it is made aware that these levels of gov't cannot do the job, then it goes to the federal level.
I say quit bashing people for the wrong reasons.

What Would YOU Have Done Differently For Hurricane Relief?
by minimus inthere's a lot of criticism from all sides.
what do you think should've been done?

I would have brought in, by helicopter, MRE's, water, and active duty military to provide security, medical needs and " theatre " info to Command and Control.

The city of New Orleans is not Bush's . . it's the major's. As a resident of that city he was aware, on a daily basis, of the shaky infrastructure of his city . . or was he? It seems to me he is not a fit major. I've been to New Oleans several times and have friends who ( used to ) live there. One of my friends is a scientist with the Enviromental Protection Agency so when he tells me that the city is plagued by gross mismanagement, I believe him. This is a case of the major not taking responsibility and trying to blame it on the Feds.
Such bullshit !

1975 - the nostalgia, the mystery, the atmosphere ....
by GetBusyLiving ini really find the past witness implication of 1975 as the beginning of the "great tribulation" facinating.
was it as disappointing as the 1995 "new understanding" of the generation spoken of by jesus?
how were the majority of witnesses able to forget about it and just continue on?

My ex-wife became a Witness in 1972. She came to me in tears begging me to become a Witness for she had become convinced that 1975 was to be the " end".
Someday there will no longer be a WTS, and THAT will be the "end."

How long would it take you to deploy thousands of troops, ships, helicopters, and first responder personnel ?
