food was passed from one side and if you were #10 you may not get too much to eat!
when i finally did, she was not at all interested.
but i was lucky it didnt work out, for she never would have left the watchtower.
First let me say that I enjoyed your experience. As a fellow press operator I can feel your pain about the heat in the press room, the ink (I used to pick my nose at the end of the day and pull out gobs of ink not to mention the paper dust). I ran a magazine press. I would like for you to tell everone on this thread of Knorr's "new boy talk". Yikes!!!!! This is a big moment in ones Bethel experience.
On a side note, do you remember Colin Lake (#4 man in the factory) running of with a Gilead sister? That was big news back then.
One of these days I will spill the beans on what I know about a lot of people at Bethel.
watchtower is really going after the money these days.
the same money that will be thrown in the streets.. .
This is not a link. It shows that the WTBS is being sued in NY supreme court by "Shirley Rose". If you want to find the details you have to go to the Clerk of the Court in Queens County and review the fillings. This case has been around since 2003. For it to go to the Surpreme Court means that the one or the other party has alot to lose in that it could set a "Legal President" for future decisions.
As for a former Bethelite suing the WTBS I have not found any case that has been filed in NY. Do you know what state this would be?

They have a problem on their hands:
Queens County Civil Court | TS-001496-00/QU | Active - Pending Further Review | SHIRLEY A. ROSE | MALLILO & GROSSMAN | WATCHTOWER BIBLE TRACT SOCIETY, INC. | WILSON ELSER MOSKOWITZ EDELMAN | 11/24/2003 | Honorable Lila P. Gold Part 20 - Supreme Ct Transfers |
i'll tell you what i just can't get.. how the hell can anyone cry wolf as many times as the witnesses have without huge repercussions afterward?
i don't get it.. "the end is sooooooooo sooooooooooo close and you better get back to the organization for protection before it is too late!!!".
have they no shame???.
Ahhh.....the joys of a cult! Wake up.....cults are not about religion. There about belonging, being accepted, having answers (no matter how misplaced they are). These are all requirements for a person to have some form of balance and fill a need. Once that need is fulfilled it is tough to pull it away from someone. Unfortunately you have to sell your soul to the cult to recieve this from a cult. Notice I did not mention freedom.
long-time occasional lurker, first-time poster.
cliffs notes version: i'm thinking of da'ing in order to shake my family up a bit, even though i haven't been involved with jws in more than 10 years.
longer version: i was raised as a jw but never got baptized.
I know where you are coming from, but the best thing for you to do is to get closer (befriend) to your parents. You say that you have a five month old child and have not seen your parents in eight months? I detect some relationship problems. Most grandparents would take the next flight out when the child is due! You will not win over, reason with, your parents if you distance yourself. To deprogram them you need to be close. The WTBS has instilled in them (brainwashed) to throw up a defensive barrier when a negative comment is made of the org. The best thing to help is to get them to start to thinking again on their own (pre WTBS). You can't do this if you have no relationship with them.
things no jehovah's witness will ever tell you.. .

When looking at the JW's remember this: A religion that has all the answers..........allows no questions!
This is what I found out after many years at Bethel.
i have read today this quote from one member on facebook going by the name of ruth eeker.. .
based on her quote, she states that "as well in regards to the un, the society has various name versions registered still in the un.
so they are still not completely out of the supposed beast!".
Amazing!......Thanks jigsup.
Just goes to show what a devious organization the WTBTS is. The sad thing is that the loyal ones will not believe this.
since you've known quite a few of the gb members etc., and mentioned that when jaracz entered a room, sydlik would leave, i'd like to ask you about sydlik - what was your impression of him?
it seems he was sort of a reformist without enough power, but i've also read that some say he had a less glamorous role at the 1980 events?.
and then swingle, of whom i've heard nothing but nice things - your impression?.
Fekel; I sat next to him at Bethel (meals) and had many conversations with him. The table assignment lasted for 10 months and in that time I got to know him. My opinion of him was that he was a very caring and loving person. Some of the things of interest that I remmember him telling me: He came to Bethel around 1917 after he brokeup with a girl friend out on Long Island. He owned a Stanley Steamer and would drive out there to see her. One of the most intriguing items was the time I came upon him at the breakfest table one morning and he was having a very heated argument with Knorr (they did not see me take my seat at the table). From what I could gather they were discussing a GB matter about taking down the presidents power as it existed in 1973. This "heated discussion" was very unlike Fekel as he was a very mild man. He and I would go shoping on Wed. night along Atlantic Av. a number of times and have long discussions. The one thing of ironry that came out of all of our discussions was the thought of not fearing any man and this thought is what gave me the strength to leave the cult. When he died around 1987 I was out of the borg, I still cried like a baby. I will always have fond thoughts of him and great respect.
right now at bethel, they are laying off and reassigning again.
if you have cancer or some other illness, you are a liability and it's time to pack.
i remember the night when we had the special talk about there being a great need in the field and some would be sent out.
B.E................I know how the ones asked to leave feel. I will never forget the look on the faces of the construction workers back in 1974 when Knorr came to lunch one Wed. and said that the work was over they had two weeks to leave. There was one older couple that had been there about three years. They had sold everything and gone to Bethel, expecting 1975 to end all. I rode to the book study with them that night and he could hardly drive, they were so upset. So no money, no job, no home to go to and no future. I often wonder what happened to them.
Thank god I'm out!
