JW mom told 6 y/o grandson Santa was fake

Let's play a game. Let's replace the word SANTA with the word JEHOVAH and reread some old posts to see what happens...
He does not understand what a pagan stick is but he sure understands about Jehovah not being real. I asked that woman what in the hell she was thinking and she said she would not encourage him to believe a lie. My brother and his wife have been so clear to her that she is not to discuss her religious beliefs with him. I asked her if it was worth it because now they have cut off all visits. She's playing the persecuted JW now. My nephew was so confused. He asked me who was lying his parents or grandma? I told him that Jehovah was real as long as you believed in him. He was happy with that explanation.
My father once asked me why was I lying to my kids about Jehovah. I told him I like my kids believing in Jehovah because it's fun, they have a sense of wonder about it, and I wish my childhood had included the same wonderful belief
Then she told me she'd make a present for Jehovah. She would draw him an ice-cream cone with lots of cherries. She would only draw one side, though, so Jehovah would not be fooled and eat it by mistake.
I think kids are pretty smart. They may fall for the Jehovah myth for awhile, some are even scared to death of him, but they catch on, some sooner than others. Most kids figure it out on their own anyway. Let em enjoy while they can.
And finally...
Tell your grandson that Santa is a fake.
After all, people have actually seen Jehovah dressed up at the mall. Has anyone actually seen this Santa dude?

How Different From Jehovah's Witnesses Are You Now?
by J Mason Emerson in20 ways jehovahs witnesses and christian witnesses differ
jws use magazines etc for studying the bible; cws use the bible itself for reading.
jws stay focused on lots of rules; cws focus on the principles of love, joy etc.

JWs picking and choosing which rules to follow
by kristyann indoes anyone else find that many, many jehovah's witnesses pick and choose which rules they want to follow?
my boyfriend's parents are jws and i have many, many examples to share with you!
i'd love to hear if any of you have known of similar type things, or if you know any other rules that jws commonly break.

It's kinda funny how on the one hand it pisses you off when you see dubs breaking the rules and getting away with it, but at the same time you're glad they're taking steps in the right direction and living their lives the way they want. Weird.

Well, bottom line, I stand by what I said. The one at the center of this tragedy is Bethany, and if I'm a sad pathetic maggot of an asshole for thinking her wishes should have been respected, then anyone of you can judge me as harshly as you want.

Are boxer briefs gay???
by Elsewhere ini was just watching a sit-com and someone made a reference to boxer briefs as being a sign a guy is gay.
i like boxer briefs!
they are the best of both worlds... a combination of boxers and briefs.

MungoBaobab
Boxer briefs are for male undergarments what Crisis of Conscience is for ex-JWs.

People have a right to believe what they want to believe. "Old men's ideas that have evolved over time to keep pace with governments" pretty much sums up the entirety of all religion everywhere, doesn't it? The girl was 17 years-old, well old enough to think for herself and make an informed decision. How old were you when you realized the JWs didn't have "the one true religion?" If the WTS's take on the use of blood is legalistic and impractical, so is the idea that maturity is magically bestowed upon a person at his or her 18th birthday. Consider this:
He says his victory means he can bring forth more evidence about the crucial treatment decisions made in Bethany's case, her final days, and expose the fact that his daughter did not really accept she must not have transfusions.
Basically, that's like saying she did have the right to decide on the transfusions, but only if she agreed to take them. Either her opinion has weight in the matter or it does not. Either she is a minor with no legal say in the matter or a mature human being with a right to her own body and beliefs. Is a 17 year-old's opinion only pertinent because the parents disagreed? If the parents were both against the transfusion, and the daughter wanted one, would the situation be different? If the parents both wanted her to have it done, and the child was against it, what then?
I only vaguely remember hearing about the case as it was happening, so all I can really comment on is what is presented in this article. But a young girl lying on a bed having tubes filled with bodily fluids inserted inside of her body against her will evokes strong rape imagery. Of course the father wanted what was best for his daughter, but look what he put her through! And for what? She still died! If she had lived, if she was a few years younger, everything would be different.

What a sick, selfish man. He is the one that robbed his daughter of her dignity. Robbed her of a peaceful death. Violated her body with a medical treatment she didn't want. Shame on him. I understand the emotional circumstances were high. Maybe he thought he could bite the spiritual bullet by incuring God's wrath on himself, meanwhile sparing his daughter's life now and into the New System. Maybe he had doubts for years and in this crisis he refused to let his daughter die for something he knew to be false. But she was old enough to make up her own mind, and the fact that Bethany fought every step of the way up to and including tearing the tubes from her arms speaks volumes for her courage and devotion. Hughes thought his daughter's religion was robbing her of her life. Instead, he robbed her of her death.

I can't understand all these late-teen JWs dating 14 year old girls. Hell, when I was 14 I didn't want to screw a 14 year old! I always liked twentysomethings, anything much younger is just sick.
