I do not miss meetings, giving talks, commenting, demonstrations, doing the literature count, going in service, feeling guilty about going to a garage sale instead of the meeting for field service. I hated conducting the meeting for field service, getting cargroups together and trying to keep up with who hates who and who will refuse to work with who. I hated the guilt of working shiftwork and having every Circuit overseer who came through, telling me to quit my job. I hated working a 12 hour shift and being so tired but having to get home as quick as possible to put on a suit to show up early because i was in charge of the literature counter, only to stay late after the meeting also to peddle literature and get up at 5am the next morning. There are so many more things i dont miss. I AM NOT TIRED ANYMORE AND I FELT INSTANT RELIEF. SERVING GOD ISNT SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE THAT!

Why does god allow suffering?
by GBSJG ini always had trouble with answering that question.
if there is a god why is there so much suffering?
so i looked up the offical explanation of the wts in the bible teach book chapter 11 paragraph 12 says: let us consider an illustration.

As imperfect as all of us are, if we had the chance to end all suffering RIGHT NOW, WE WOULD!! So if God is so loving why does he have to prove anything to SATAN?? HE could just end it RIGHT NOW! Everyone is suffering because the first human pair ate the wrong fruit?? Does that make sence or sound loving?? Do you punish your second and third child because of a glass of milk that your first child spilled 12 years ago?? These are all questions that I have because none of it makes sence to me. The book "Jehovah Unmasked has an answer for these questions. Some of the answers make a little sence and then some sound far fetched to me, so im not sure what to believe.

Remember when KH's had a piano and real singing?
by WingCommander inthe thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.

My mom played the piano for years, in fact we were one of the last halls in the circuit to lose the piano and get those high quality tapes! A circuit overseer came through and said that we needed to get with the rest of the circuit and get the tapes. Everyone in the hall was depressed about it and complained for a couple of years afterward about how much warmer the hall felt with a small congregation singing to a piano.
I remember a sheparding call the elders made on my parents when I was 10. When they showed up at the house my mom told me to go play outside, but the elders said "no, he's old enough he needs to be in on the visit also" They told my mom that she would lose her piano playing privilege if she didnt get her hours up, because my moms hours had fallen below the national average. They told her there would be nobody to play the piano in the hall, I will never forget it, becuase my mom was crying and crying and I had only seen her cry once in my life. My dad just set there and took it while they put her on a huge guilt trip. They both had to work and we lived 27 miles from the hall. They also had to work on Saturdays, so sunday was usually our service day, after the meeting. If we ever went on vacation together it was only a Sunday afternoon drive. So of course a normal afternoon drive automatically meant your goign to be lacking in service hours.
It still makes me so angry thinking about it, after all these years. -

You need to order "combating cult mind control" An awesome non-JW book that will totally blow both of your minds. It was a tremendous help to my wife and I when going through the guilty stage. We also got involved in American Idol for the first time and that also helped:) Stay busy and avoid places where you will run into JW's. It will help with the guilt.

truth seekers vs. truth knowers.......Interesting thought
by PaNiCAtTaCk inpeople should be "truth-seekers", not "truth-knowers".
it's the truth-knowers that cause problems b/c they think everyone is wrong and that promotes intolerance.
whereas truth-seekers are open minded and always ready to learn new things abt the many different truths out there.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE/WORST STUDY BOOK?
by badboy inwhich ones did you hate and which ones did you like out of the study books?

I agree with the other posters. I actually enjoyed the Daniel book for the most part, but I was losing interest fast half way through Isa 1, and Isa 2 books. Lord of the rings were more believable.

First off, I did not write this. I found it on the net. I think this guy made an interesting point.
Let us suppose Jesus did indeed use YHWH in his every day conversation; that he had, indeed, uttered the correct pronunciation of it to his dearest disciples. Surely, coming from God Himself, the Nazarene would know how to pronounce the noma sagrada. Suppose he stressed this importance and directed his disciples to pass this on to the next generation, etceteras, etceteras. This would have allowed for the preservation of something so very important, from the JW perspective. This agency for passing on the Divine Name and its exact pronunciation, according to JWs, would be that “faithful and discreet slave” class which has come down through history in an unbroken chain right up to modern times. The question rises: who lost this correct pronunciation? It would have to be the “faithful and discreet slave class” itself and this is unthinkable to modern JWs, including those professing “anointed” members of the contemporary “faithful and discreet slave class”. Will JWs accept this blame?Today scholars possess more than 7,000 very ancient original language manuscripts of the New Testament. None of these contain YHWH. No manuscript of the writings of what are called apostolic fathers in the first and second centuries contain the divine name either.
