Many Stay As JWs Because Of Social & Family Contacts

would you agree that most people stay on as witnesses--not because they are "true believers" but because they have no place else to go or they will risk losing their family and friends?

Hm...contacts with family who are jws is mostly nil (except for the parental units who are now talking to me) and I had none who I would call my friends. So leaving was painless.

THIS IS IT!!! EARTHQUAKES!!!

i have to laugh, just heard from 2 dub friends that proceeded to tell me this is a sign.

california has had 4 earthquakes in the last 3 days.

so all of you still on the fence.straighten upcant be long now.

That's 4 quakes that they know of. The earth is moving all the time. Time and time again when I was living in California we were told that there were numerous quakes that were happening all the time...we just couldnt feel them.

Oh God Why? Tell Me Why??

now that i'm totally free of the wt & it's indoctrination, standing alone not sure of my purpose in life, not sure where to turn to.

i still believe in god but find myself on the verge/or perhaps already questioning him.

this is quite a sensitve topic & not sure it suitable, but i just need it out there.

Is there really any harm in questioning God? In asking why bad things happen? I dont think so. You might get an answer.

I think asking questions and thinking about the big issues just shows you have a heart and are trying to use your mind. Better that than being a non-questioning, non-deep thinker jw.

Did you ever feel like you never fit in?

when i was growing up in dubland, i always felt like i never "fit" in with the other kids in the cong or their families.

i always knew deep down that i didn't like being a jw and their had to be more to life than meetings and field service.

i just wanted to be normal, like the other kids and have sleepovers, birthday parties, after school activities and christmas etc..... my folks were and still are devout dubs and my dad in particular is the nicest man you will ever meet, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, no questions asked.

this is my story so far, but i am fairly sure it is going to end up a bit differently than most i have read on your site.

the brothers couldn't help my husband, he didn't want help.

I have met more vicious and evil jws in chatrooms and message boards than apostates. Nothing that has come before in this topic said to this woman has been mean or evil or vicious. If she didnt want conflicting opinons to what she posted here she had every right not to do so. But she did because even though she's going back she has a voice here. She wont have a voice when she goes back to the hall.
