  The Elders are coming over

  after seven years we finally got a call from an elder this morning.

  he wants to come over and talk to steve (he wouldn't talk to me or give me any message).

  this particular elder was from steve's old congregation in austin, texas.

  Off to Oregon - Merry Christmas

  my children have decided to fly me back to oregon to spend christmas with them.

  this will be the first time i have seen my family since february 2001 and since my heart attack ... so this is a special time for them and me - and i get to see all my grandchildren.

  i promised to make three finale posts ... i have written two of them but i am holding off until i can think them through more and be sure of what i want to say ... so i may post them soon or when i get back on the 27th.

  in fact she just found out she got a job and will be moving down with me in just a few weeks.

  ok here is my deal.... for those of you who don't know already i have never been df'd or da'd.

  i just quit going, and was never baptized.

  (that will become relevant later).

  I must agree with others here. Go with your gut feeling, I can see no good coming out of you going to the shower. Yes you will get odd looks, even coments, that could cause you more hurt. Sometimes when one is hurting, others get satisfaction in rubbing the salt into the wound. Why put yourself through that. Send a present with your mom and a card, at least then the ball is in your court. If this girl was truly your friend, she would have been there keeping in contact with you, but she is doing what she is told to do, to stay away from you, and why put yourself in such an awkward situation, it would be to painful.

  You are a sweet person, don't let others hurt you this way. Take care.

  Honest Opinion, Please

  i'm not very craftsy, but i have a thing about crocheting dishcloths.

  it's a basket-weave design and i have mentioned in the past how it helps me to keep sane.

  i have been suicidal lately and thought, why not send these dishcloths out to my friends and they will always have a little piece of me to be remembered by.

  The best remembered and treasured gifts a person can receive are gifts from the heart.

  Send your hand-made cloths, they are great, I received some once from my sister-in-law, and I loved them.

  Then again knowing that you are ok yourself and not thinking of suicide is a greater gift.

  Here's a little song that goes to the tune of Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer that my biological dad taught me as a little girl, no he was not a JW, and we visited him which was very little, he taught us this.

  Maverick the shiny Gunman,

  Had a very shiny gun.

  And if you ever saw it,

  It would make you turn and run.

  All of the other cowboys used to laugh and call him names,

  They never let poor Maverick play in any cowboy games.

  Then one foggy Christmas day the sheriff came to say,

  Maverick with your gun so bright, won't you shoot my wife to-night.

  Then how the other cowboys laughed and shouted out with glee

  Maverick the shiny gunman,

  You'll go to the penetentuary.

  To this day I still remember this song, and the time my dad, who has since passed on tapped us little girls singing this song on his tape recorder.

  beside the obvious "mouse trap" or "bird-catcher" gifts, any ideas what can i get my wife for christmas?

  i've thought of a few things but need input.

  Brummie, sometimes it is hard to get that just right present for our loved ones, give my husband a tool, any tool, and he is soooo happy. For a lady, I always enjoyed receiving my gold diamond ring, earrings, gold, candy, and the most precious part of it all was the christmas card I got from him expressing in the verse his love that he felt for me. It just made me feel so special.
