Do Your Emotions Come Back When You Leave a Cult?

i believe they do perhaps as gradually as they left.. i remember when i was 18 yrs old and first started becoming a jw that was 30 yrs ago and the one thing i remember is that i loved my worldly relatives and wanted so much for them to get saved and the emotional torture i went though thinking they were all going to die soon at armageddon.
it was really hard to cope with the thought of them all being destroyed.. i work really hard not to think about it, and over time i started to view all my nonjw relatives as worthy of destruction at gods hands in order to have my thinking line up with gods.

I agree with Marilyn, at first when I left my emotions where sooo very raw. Sometimes thinking of the ones you left, those you know truly did love you, then for the lose of relatives you no longer have a relationship with, because you get shunned, that was the hard part, especially if they are siblings you grew up with, who now have families of their own, who also are not allowed to speak to you. I really try not to think to much about this, and as time has gone by, you put up a protection wall so as not to get hurt. So now it only hurts some of the time.

Just listened to Phil Collins, I love his music, like alot of different music, but it just depends how I am feeling each day as to what I listen to. Other days I just listen to my hubby snore, and loudly I might add, gotta love that. I even taped him one day as he said he doesn't snore to loud. Gotcha dear.

Question for good boy's gone bad?
by butalbee ini've read on this website countless threads about girls getting involved, falling head over feet in love with dubs.
supposingly good dubs, who want their cake with extra frosting on top, so to speak.... me being one of those girls, who fell in love with the wrong guy--knows exactly how they feel--one way or another they've gonna get hurt, and i think i've replied with the "run for your life" type statement--in truth, it is really the only sane choice.
i know why we fall helplessly infatuation w/ these dud's--they're charming, well mannered, well dressed, kind, innocently sexy, they look great in a suit, and i guess, in my case, i used to invision myself taking off his suit: first the tie, then unbuttoning his shirt with my mouth, and well--okay--i am again meandering off the path.. here is my question and it is for all the male jw's that may read this: if you know it is wrong to get involved with worldly women, then why do you pursue us?????

Young JW boys,(men) are human yes, but they still have raging testosterone, and some, not all think more with their little heads then their big heads, and someone is always going to get hurt. This my hubby used to tell me.

My daughter undergoing cancer surgery

50 years today

What makes you smile?

i cant help but smile when my wife laughs, or when my kids play outside.
i also smile when my boy, who is 15 wants to talk to me.

I smile when I win backgammon when playing with my friend OFC
I smile at her reaction when she losses at backgammon.
I smile when she wins scrabble, cause she is so smart.
I smile at my grandchildren, they seem to brighten my day.
I smile at my loving husband, the way he looks at me sometimes, that only husband and wife can see.
I smile at my grown children, because they have such good sense of humour's
I smile when I reminisce about our younger days.
And I smile at my dog, and my cat, cause they do silly things.

Do you consider yourself an ex-JW?
by Introspection ini'm gonna go for the direct approach here.
it's kind of strange to identify yourself as an ex- anything, to define yourself using a former identity as a point of reference, one that is no longer.
in some cases you might use it to clarify your relationship, (i'm jane's ex-husband, or whatever) but again it gets weird.. i mean we don't think of ourselves as ex-kindergarteners or something do we?

Amazing Survived Major Heart Attack
by AlanF ini just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.
on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.
he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

To My Mother
