  i had a chance to take a photo shoot of billygoat.

  i had to show this off to you....because she is very shy about showing it.

  maybe shy is the wrong word, but it is the best one i could think of.

  Thanks guys! I've never been called a diva before. Not sure what to think of that.

  Sparky is a fabulous photographer and artist and makes a photoshoot a lot of fun. One of the shots (not the one posted) will be on my site someday soon. Maybe she'll let me post the shots I took of her and her girls. Cuties all three of them!

  Midget, I got the honor and privelege of meeting the Texas State Photographer earlier this year, Wyman Meinzer. He uses a Canon Mark II, an amazing piece of equipment. He says he will never go back to film, now that he has the Mark II. It's WAY out of my and Sparky's price range, but for what we do, our equipment is sufficient and does a very good job. (She has her 20D, but I'm a Nikon girl. I have the Nikon D70 now, but drooling over the hopes of getting a D200 soon!)

  i decided to start this topic when ozziepost shared the experience of a bethel representative telling him and mrs. ozzie "and don't forget, we've got your children!

  it's important for us to hear these experiences and to share them with each other.

  it helps us tear down the mistaken beliefs that the incidents that happen to us are not isolated ones, but are in fact par for the course when one parts ways with the jws and wts.

  Scully, I am so sorry. But I am grateful too, because here you are. As am I.

  These stories are heartbreaking. If it hadn't happened to me, I probably wouldn't believe them.

  My most memorable experiece is of my father, the day he kicked me out of the house. I had just told him that I was going through counseling with a worldly psychologist for all the pain of losing my family and religion. That infuriated him that I was discussing dirty family laundry with someone that wasn't a JW! It was very heated and he punched a hole in my bedroom door. If I hadn't ducked it would have been my face! I told him that I planned on getting my own place and would be out of his hair soon. He screamed at me, "You will not survive out there without me. You are nothing. You are nothing without me. Do you hear me? You want to leave? Leave! Get your shit out of my house and out of my life within 48 hours."

  I will never forget those words. I wish I could. It was around noon on a Saturday when my dad said that to me. I called a worldly co-worker and he helped me move what little possesions I had in 24 hours. Before my parents came back from the Sunday meeting, I was gone, never to return.

  A New Trend for JW Baby Boomers?

  i'm sure this topic has come up before but i'm new here :-) since many of us are offspring of the baby boomer generation or of a generation earlier, i've noticed a trend.

  my parents and their siblings who largely grew up as witnesses are now entering or have entered retirement age.

  although my parents were generally hard working and responsible people, they have little retirement savings.

  I don't really know how my parents are doing. I think they're doing "okay". My father worked for a large online travel company. He got paid peanuts in salary, but his boss kept throwing him stock options left and right. When my dad left the company he had a substantial amount of money by cashing out his stock options. My mom still works and my father has since started his own online travel magazine. I'm not to terribly worried about them. I do feel better knowing my brothers are there to take care of them, and they'll do a fine job. But it does worry me because they're both pioneers working for peanuts themselves. I don't know if they have the where-with-all to handle a responsibility like that.

  As for Mozz and I, we're the only kids in his family here in town. I know we'll be taking care of his parents one day. I'm fine with that. He has lovely parents.

  Do you hug and kiss your pets?

  i love my cats as if they were my own children.

  i was there when they were born and even cut one of the umbilical cords.

  they are part of my family and yes, i do pick them up, hug them and kiss them everyday.

  I do hug on my pets quite a bit. Kisses, maybe on the top of their little furry heads. But I don't like being licked by them. Thank goodness my dogs are both NOT lickers, but they are "puffers". The sniff in several times and then "puff" all their smell back out. LOL! I have one cat that is a total cuddle baby and the other wants to be touched only in the mornings when we're in bed.

  my ex-husband, still a jw, and i were having a rare phone conversation about our girls.

  it was surprisingly amicable until he sadly said, "you know, all i ever wanted was for my girls to be pioneers.

  Sad. That is really, really pathetic.

  You know, after I got thinking about it, this man spent about 16 years with me, knew me well and how much I enjoy living, how much I love my kids, etc. It shows how quickly this disappears, how much of a facade it all was, just the fact that he can relish, rub his hands together with gleeful anticipation at my coming murder.....the coldness that is encouraged, allowed, supported just blows my mind now.

  I understand. This is exactly what I wonder about with my parents.
