Later that night, we went to dinner and he said to me " I just want you to know I will never shun you, I just won't do it.
Good for him FL. Good for him!
hope you are all well.. if you have been following the soap-opera of my life and the letter i wrote my dad then you may be interested in the latest.. my dad has been here visiting and we had a good long talk yesterday about my letter and what has brought me to the decision to leave the org.
he listened to everything i had to say and agreed with everything i had to say.
his own doubts arose when he became an elder and got a clearer picture of the abusive tactics that are used on the sheep.
Later that night, we went to dinner and he said to me " I just want you to know I will never shun you, I just won't do it.
Good for him FL. Good for him!
memory is not my strong suit, and i found that i would invariably either forget on friday night to turn off my alarm, or forget on sunday night to turn it back on.
the only variance to this was when i forgot both -- which was frequent.. so i'd have both a disrupted weekend sleep-in, and a rushed or even late-to-work monday morning.. i finally bit the bullet and purchased the neverlate 7-day alarm clock, from http://www.americaninnovative.com/buy/.
it allows me to set a different alarm for every day of the week.
If you're looking to drop a sum of money that I'm told by my wife is quite reasonable, but to me seems like a stupidly high amount to pay for a damn clock, on an alarm clock -- about $40 with shipping from amazon.com -- then I would highly recommmend this little number.
$40?! Eeks! But a simple price to pay for peace of mind! I hope it works out for you. Neil would have the same issue as you, but since I'm an early riser, I don't let him oversleep.
hope you like.

you have two cows.. your neighbor has none.. you feel guilty for being successful.. barbara streisand sings for you.

yeah, i know it's kind of a lousy pic but it's finally my mug on the board.. and yes, a warm hello to all of my former elders!!.
you thought it might be me and now you know.
Hi onesong! A lovely picture it is!
There is something freeing about being "out of the closet" isn't there?
some believe that jesus christ is the salvation.
others have opinion that the organization is the salvation.
where is the truth?
But there is also a strong opinion, especially from organized religions, that we are not intelligent to understand the Bible alone,
To be honest, the only organized religion I've seen do this is the Jehovah's Witnesses. I've been a member of Bible, Christian, Baptist and Catholic congregations. Not ONE of them had this opinion. Perhaps I've been lucky, but not all churches teach this. Perhaps in years past, they did, but many today do not. The Witnesses would like you to believe that, but then again, they are known to teach inaccurate and archaic crap.
when people are faced with being a victim of a crime or other wrongs, it changes them.
it produces in them the need for accountability.
such victims are told to "forgive" by letting go and that the forgiveness is for their own healing, even if the one causing harm has not shown sorrow or regret.
Wonderful Essay Jim!
If you haven't seen the video about the WCG, you must see it. I'll have to look through my DVDs as I can't recall the name at the moment, but it is a VERY interesting story. That video actually gave me hope that someday, even if the WTS doesn't come around, then maybe my parents would.
Good to read some of your words again! You've been tremendously encouraging to me in some of my direst of times.

vow of poverty scanned from 2002 documents.
i believe these are the latest ones unless someone has a newer one.
i posted these in another thread but i thought it deserved its own.. ocrd with 98% accuracy.... initial cover page 1 of 4. vow of obedience and povertyto the.
This completely creeps me out. I can't believe all those thousands upon thousands of people have signed that thing. I would like to think that even as a Witless, I would get creeped by that, but sadly, I don't know if that's true.
*shiver*
it's funny how "split-personalitied" i am on some things.
i'm not really a neat person.
but there are things that i am very anal about.
as I was reading this post and eating a small dish of cashews I pick out all the split and broken pieces to eat first, leaving all the whole ones for...right now!!
Me too!
at orgies, i have to have sex with people in alphabetical order
Although I've never had to worry about that.
you get a letter like this and it makes it all better:
(from my daughter)
its all too hard to explain, .
*gulp*
Holy crap Decki. I'm crying as I write this, because I CAN hear her voice as she says this to you. With little fuzzy blonde hairs poking out and those beautiful eyes full of concern, love, and even frustration. You have raised a WONDERFUL daughter...not inspite of yourself...but because you have put to work the gifts that God has given you. She is one sage little girl...living up to her name and spirit!
Love you tons and I'm SO PROUD of you both!

Welcome to the board! The good thing is that you are now free to live your life as YOURS. I realize how hard it might be, but stop looking at him as destroying your life and look at this as a FRESH START. The world is your oyster!
