  Thank you for the explanation! I had never heard that term before.

  The hypocrisy and arrogance of the WTS views sickens me more and more. If you are a true Bible believer, is not God the one who does the converting? Aren't Christians just instructed to plant the seeds and cultivate, but ultimately God makes it grow? Isn't it a little arrogant for JWs to believe that THEY CAN DECIDE where the seeds are to be planted? Ugh. This makes me so sad.

  well, folks, christmas is a comin', and we start off the festive season next week as her ladyship and i have a sixsome for an evening meal.

  here's what we are cooking, except that we use sherry rather than madeira wine.

  Concerning Santa Claus

  i thought id post this now, because firstly were just coming into that time of year, and secondly the thread started by mulan called confession got into this subject and started me thinking.. i couldve posted this as a reply in that thread, i suppose, but i wanted to discuss it separately.

  besides, its been months since i saw my name up there in a thread started by capacity, so i thought it was time.

  concerning santa claus, then.. the whole christmas issue is, of course, one of the meanest, most joy-denying, life-diminishing teachings in the whole miserable jw mindset.

  Oh yeah - the "all year round" thing. I remember saying that to my schoolfriends, even all the while knowing that it LITERALLY WAS NOT TRUE.

  Ohhh! This one gets me so bad!!! I get riled just thinking about it. My parents used to say this to me all the time. But it so was NOT true. We didn't get prezzies except the typical new school year clothing, which every kid got anyway. I got a few really nice high school graduation presents, but I can't remember any presents AT ALL the rest of the year. Now, I must say we didn't have a lot of money growing up, but even the smallest thought or trinket wasn't even given. Now that I'm older, the more I realize how ingrateful my JW family is for anything that is given to them. They say thank you, but it is so perfunctory it's enough to make you ill. A few years ago, I gave my twin brothers watches for high school graduation. Not even a thank you note or email.

  I can't say there is much more in life that buggers me more than ungrateful people!!!

  if you could give a talk at the kingdom hall what would you say?.

  some of us here are still considered witnesses by our local congregations but have stopped going.. imagine though you were to go back for a few weeks and you were asked to give a 5 minute talk.. would you chicken out of saying anything controversial or would you give it all you've got.. what would you chose to talk about?

  i've been reading all your comments since i found the un thread.

  (i'm not angry- just hit the wrong button!

  should have called my self crap with keyboard )have read all with great interest since then; meeting attendance and hours down to zero... but feeling pretty low.angry,shocked, dissapointed etc ,funny how it hits you .any way ;just a little question; i cant(this typing is getting embarassing) just ignore it.

  It's a balmy 66 degrees today in Dallas. Not exactly the best thing to get into the holiday groove!

  Take care of yourself sweetie. Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll snow so much you'll be stuck at home and can't get to work. Darn it all!
