Are you kidding? The kids here have been in school for several weeks.
.
what are your plans for this long week end?
sunday meeting, or field service?

maybe the correct word is not "hate", but "distain" or "dislike"... .
many people were against the war in iraq and dilike president bush, has this had a baring on how people view americans?
when america flexes its military muscles how do you feel?
Are Americans patriotic just for show?
Maybe for some people it's like Starbucks - fashionable.
yeah, so yesterday i'm at mcdonald's with my kids.
this guy walks in all full of dried paint on his hair and clothes.
he sits down with his food, and then starts preaching out loud to the entire restaurant about how the hurricane is god's way of punnishing the whores and the homos who are now paying the price for their sins.. .
Maybe god is punishing us for giving the world cricket or something?
LOL! That's the funniest thing I've heard you say in a long time. LOL!

In the Starbucks case, people seem to be looking for cheapness rather than quality. However Starbucks coffee is not cheap compared to local cafés and its quality is questionable. Why then do people "walk in and give them their money"? Is it a matter of fashion?
I think for many yes, it is a matter of fashion. I've never been a big Starbucks fan. I think they overroast their beans...their coffee always tastes burned. Hopefully, the fashion will go out of style.

Hubby and I are trying to just recuperate from the week. Mow the yard, clean the house, sit and watch a movie together, cook together. Just being quiet together is comforting. I'm also shooting a wedding.
sorry 'bout missing out last weekend - things were happening all around us and...well, y'know how it is!.
still, thinking about weekend's like this, how do you feel?
what makes you really happy on the weekend?
2, 7, 9 - all at the same time AFTER #4.
after talking to many of the evacuees from new orleans and watching all of the local coverage , interviews of surviors ,they are just thankful to be alive.
they are also in deep despair over family members who they can not find, they don't know if they are alive or dead.
not to mention the ones they know are gone.. there are so many are just heartbroken that the home they knew is gone forever .

I know it's hard to know it'll never be the same. The city had absolutely beautiful architecture and style. I loved the art vendors down in the FQ. I loved the smell of coffee down at Cafe Dumond. Chicory coffee - yum! And you practically breathed sugar powder in the air from all the beignets. Hmmm. I loved the kettle corn further down in the market area...the best I've ever had. I remember a funny little store down there for dog clothing...just for little dogs. www.chiwawagaga.com In the window, they had a tiny chihuahua that wore a shirt that said, "Does this make me look fat?" LOL And the clop clop clop sounds of horse and carriages as you walk down the streets. I used to imagine riding one back in the day with a big flouncy dress and parasol. I loved watching the cigar rollers at the cigar store. My camera battery died right when I went to take a picture of them at the end of our last trip. My plan was to go straight to that cigar store next time I went.
New Orleans isn't gone hon. We just need to keep it alive.

i can't believe it.
as many of you know, my wife is still a jw.
she is very "liberal" and doesn't agree with all the dogma.
Coondawg,
That's so cool! I hope she starts finding some healthier outlets for spiritual consideration and a new support network of friends.

this doesn't sound right:.
hyatt guests given priority.
at one point friday, the evacuation was interrupted briefly when school buses rolled up so some 700 guests and employees from the hyatt hotel could move to the head of the evacuation line much to the amazement of those who had been crammed in the stinking superdome since last sunday.. how does this work?
rapes? what the? Is that for real? that truly made me feel ill.
From what I understand, yes, this is for real. Yesterday, a young couple with their young (probably now motherless) neice, was brought to Dallas. The lady had said they had to surround their children, especially the young girls, in order to protect them. They could never leave them alone, nor could they both sleep at the same time. They slept in shifts in order for someone to be awake to protect the children.
dear fellow australian posters,.
we're shocked to see the news pictures showing on our major tv networks and cnn of what is happening in new orleans.
our hearts go out to those poor people and our wishes and prayers are for a speedy resolution of this catastrophe.. to our fellow posters in southern usa, our heartfelt sympathy.. signed:.
Donkey, I know you're upset...can't say I felt too good after reading Simon's post either...but can we not bring that embarrassed and ashamed stuff here?
I agree. Let's keep this thread positive. We don't need that stuff in here.
((((Oz and Mrs.)))))
Leave it to you awesome Aussies to start a thread like this. THANK YOU! It has been amazing to me to see how many people have been so willing to help out and encourage. Here on this board and those I know from my church. I feel blessed to know people like y'all. We love you guys!
