what is the most ridiculous song that you couldn't listen too.. because of so called bad lyircs (maybe misheard lyrics), sexy beat or because fo the person who sang it didn't have the proper morals?.
mine.... couldn't listen to ac/dc because it meant they went both ways.
i played "shout" by tears for fears at a gathering and was told to not play it. seemed that some thought it was about "shouting" or speaking in tongues in an evangelical church. my dad made me throw away a steppenwolf album (im giving away my age here) because of the song " the pusher" which said "God damn the pusher man" and the song "don't step on the grass, sam" which, in addition to being about marijuana, said " you're so full of shit, sam".
i hid led zeppelin to keep from being caught. anybody here know where i get my user name? the hint is in the previous sentence.
i wanted to give everyone an update on the current state of my slow fade.
i live in an environment that is hostile to the slow fade so i usually speak in general terms.
this time i plan to give just a little bit more information so i can heal myself as i go through this process.. i have doubted for several years (about 3).

if your parents ever quit, take pictures!! you're gorgeous!! im alot like you i fade ever so slowly. i turn in 2 or 4 hours per month(i rotate) just to keep elders off my back!! i comment once every lesson, and give every other assigned talk(i get sick alot. hee hee hee!) it keeps the family happy, but no elder asks me to do more cause i dont do enough!
do you beat yourself up about things you should've, would've, could've done with your life, instead of becoming one of jehovah's witnesses.what regrets do you have, if any?
what are you doing now to overcome your regrets?.

mostly, the education. or better, the lack of it. i was an honor student w/o trying because i knew i couldn't go to college. it was against the "rules" at that time. now i have a successful business involving hard labor. i do OK but what could have been........

hi garybuss
just got back to the forum. you made some valid points, some i had never thought of. however, rev 7:14 says the great crowd "comes out of" the great trib. not "lives" through. according to wts, this means those who live though and those who are resurrected. this is what you will still hear at any meeting today. im NOT saying this is correct, nor am i saying you are necessarily wrong. this is what a new student will be taught.
still not sure what "sacred texts" you are talking about(bible or wt pubs.). true, the sheep/goat separating idea has changed, but every witness or prospective witness is expected to preach/sell books whether they are annointed or not. believe me, i wish it were the annointed only. im tired of hearing that i dont do it enough.
i replied only because love11 seemed to think that jws are not told to go door to door anymore. unfortunately, we are.
thanx for the input. hope i didnt piss you off
by the way love11, its Bonnzo, not Gonnzo

"great crowd not identified until 1914"? "no command to preach"? whoever you are, you are really misinformed. neither of those statements are true. i don't believe everything i see or hear from the so-called fts, but i've never heard those statements and im still a regular meeting attender(although i do sleep alot)

god that is so awesome!
i want to relive that era!.
where did they plug there amps into?
so my mother suprised me about a week ago by telling me we are going on a bus trip to bethel from april 13-17. for those of you who aren't used to this concept, american dubs seem to think that packing themselves on the bus with 60 other witnesses and driving for 4 days is somehow going to strengthen themselves spiritually.
well, i doubt that will work for me.
i was just wondering, is there anything i should look for/ be on the alert for?
bring an ipod w/lots of metal/rap music. make sure the music is DEMONIZED. see if anything strange happens on the way. if bibles start floating around the bus, you know it'll be your fault.
i've been racking this around my brain for a minute now.
you've got people puttin in an average of 10 hours a month, giving away countless publications, and still only converting one or two families every 20 years or so.
this raises an obvious question, "if the door to door ministry doesn't bring in converts why do it?
dont forget its a good way to get "double" contributions. you know, you contribute when you the publisher gets the literature, and then you turn in the 'contribution' when you place/forceitdowntheirthroart the literature.
the parable of the prodigal son.
i will set out and go back to my father and say to him: father, i have sinned against heaven and against you.
" "my son," the father said, "you are always with me, and everything i have is yours.
so far NO scriptures in any of the answers and i'll bet there won't be because THERE AREN'T ANY!!!
