Bank of America took $3000 out of my checking account without telling us!
by LovesDubs inwe are filing bankruptcy in three days.
we finally got enough money together, which included our government incentive check, to pay the lawyer to do it and last night saw two withdrawals from our checking account!
perfectly legal the bank says.

when i filed for bankruptcy, my checking and savings(what little i had) was in a credit union, and i had a loan thru them .my lawyer said to immediately, before he filed, to clear them out and close them, which i did. he said that the credit union would immediately take everything they could. did they know you were going to file? my understanding was they could only do this after filing. this was 6 years ago and bankruptcy laws have changed and not in your favor. best of luck.

some of you mentioned receiving flack from the elders because you listen to rap, but surely there has got to be some other rock n' roll and metal fans in here.
i still remember the flack i got for listening to 80's music, classic rock n' roll (loved jethro tull, doors, pink floyd, and so on), and worst of all.....heavy metal!

tool is the best band in the world today. check out the new REVOLVER magazine. its devoted entirely to tool. i've seen them 4 times...absolutely amazing shows. also look for new metallica in the fall. i hear they are going back to the "....and justice for all" sound, which is their best imo. i'm in my late 40"s and still love metal, but prefer the older stuff. i like to hear singing and occasional screaming, not unintelligible grunting passing for vocals

Questions on Assembly to help wife critically think

my wife is going to be attending the assembly in hampton, va this weekend and was wondering if there are any questions that i could ask her in advance to help her critically think about what is being said?.
it has been a while since she has attended either a meeting or a dc, so will be sort of like being hit anew with this stuff, but i think she has done a few bs with the pesky sister in the meanwhile, though she is being quite silent about it.. .

the baptism talk was "baptize them in the name of the....holy spirit", or sometthing close to that. then ask why the term "holy spirit" is replaced by "gods spirit directed organization" in the 2 baptismal questions.

aside from one customer going bankrupt 15 years ago i have generally been able to get people to pay on time !

i had one customer go 120 days three years ago.....threatened lien, and they paid up. i have one now who regularly goes 45-60 days, but getting paid in 45 days is better than not getting paid at all. however, my business generally gets better when the housing market struggles.

How did you "expand" your Field Service time
by donny ini remember when a brother named donis and i used to go out in field service on the weekends we took advantage of our congregations large territory.
we each had about nine return visits and we would pick one on the southern end of the territory and afterwards drive to one in the northern part and then back again.
along the way we would throw in laundry mat to dump a lot of the magazines that were given to us by other brothers/sisters who needed room in their garage.

told bigger lies on field service report, but never enough to get noticed by elders. then they start the "why don't you reach out"? crap. so i may occasionaly expand my 5 hours to 8, mags to 10, and throw in a rv here and there

one elder said my spirituality was like a rollercoaster....up and down. i guess so, 3 reproofs and 2 df'ing with some pioneering and a stint as a ms sandwiched in between. so i was occasionally a bad JW....and when i was bad, i was REAL bad.

dunked at 14, occ. pioneered, df'd at 20, back in at 21, occ. pioneer, df'd at 27, back in at 29, married(wonderful wife) at 32, ms for 5 years, public talks, 2nd school overseer(as ms, believe it or not), book study conductor, deleted and pissed off, discovered jwd, realized the bs, but still feel trapped(long story, s.o.s.), privately reproved(3rd time), elders trying to get me to reach out to serve again, but i gotta plan on how to never qualify. wish i had the balls to get out....maybe one day.
