  this topic has been rolling around in my head for some time.

  i don't expect that i'll write it perfectly as it needs to be articulated in different ways for different people...but i will do my best.

  and worst of all, i am not expecting any kind of response that will satisfy me.

  If I may make a quick observation. It seems that you believe that showing emotion during a debate means that all objectivity is lost. Having made that assumption, I do not think that it is even possible for emotion to be completely left out of any conversation. Humans are innately emotional. Just as we are also innately intellectual.

  Therefore, while I am not saying that you don't have some valid points here, the people who have been MORE honest and accurate in this discussion are the ones who have admitted that they are in fact being emotional, to a certain degree.

  It is hard for me to accept that you are calling these people "delusional".

  * Human = emotional being

  * During debate one party admits this = honesty

  *Other party's basic argument is that emotion = loss of objectiveness

  * Neither party is ABSOLUTELY right.

  * However, by a preponderence of the evidence, a determination is made that the party ackowledging a basic human tendency over which he may try to minimize for the debate's sake, but will never be able to eliminate altogether is slightly MORE right.

  Do you find that argument within any realm of possibility?

  i am a jiu jitsu student and have been for a 4 years.

  it's more of a sport.

  Big Tex,

  Sorry to hear about the trauma you suffered at the hands of your family. From the posts you make, it seems like you have recovered well from incidents that children should never have to experience. Your anger is certainly justified due to the lack of help these elders should have given you.

  I'm curious to see if BroBennett will have the balls to make a comment on it.

  i was just having lunch in a wendy's near my house an hour ago.

  an elder and his wife entered and got in line to order without seeing me seated in the eating area.

  after a minute the wife turned and saw me.

  I was just having lunch in a Wendy's near my house an hour ago. An elder and his wife entered and got in line to order without seeing me seated in the eating area. After a minute the wife turned and saw me. She spoke to her husband and they got out of line and left.

  This was a fairly large Wendy's and it was pretty empty. They could have easily sat in an area far enough away that I never would have heard what they were saying or have to make eye contact with them even, but they were so pathetic that they left. How paranoid (insert whichever adjective you wish rather than "paranoid") is that? I could care less really but how much does that show their own level of fear of the rest of the world?

  Most people are trying to give some TRULY objective advice to the original poster, jwbloodline who, in most ex-JWs' opinions is unfortunately still a JW.

  Your true personality has become evident to most of the posters here. Your arrogance has become an irritation to those of us who originally became involved in this discussion for the primary reason of contributing to your own mental well-being.

  Despite your denial that I or anyone else can give you objective advice, there has in fact been a tremendous amount of GOOD advice put forward. Just because you want to take those well-intentioned thoughts and twist them into something negative doesn't mean that the authors of such thoughts have to do anything other than stand behind their true intention......... to honestly help you.

  I have "quit" very few things in my life. When my intention has been as genuine as mine has been in this post, quitting has been almost not even fathomable. However, I leave this topic feeling very sure of the fact that any good intention that I have had has been twisted so greatly that I no longer want to admit to the fact that I am the author of such thoughts.

  Your impression of me is so tainted that it really is NO part of who I really am.

  Ok, I'll try to explain where your logic is flawed. Google "Borderline Personality Disorder". Then OPEN-MINDEDLY read the signs of that disorder. Then let me know if any apply to you.

  P.S. No one is going to be able convince you that your opinion is somewhat flawed unless you are ready to perceive that it may in fact be flawed.

  i was just watching nightline (i think it was) with diane sawyer.

  the stars from ocean's twelve were on there.

  i am not a person who normally gives too much praise to celebs or athletes but these guys/gals (brad pitt, catherine zeta-jones, andy garcia, george clooney, matt damon and don cheadle) were pretty brilliant.

  Scientists, musicians, doctors and lawyers do coke too. Obviously not all of them, but some.

  I think the question has been answered already.

  I'm sure some do. I don't think the fact that a small percenteage of successful people do in fact do drugs has any relevance to the topic, but thanks for shedding more light on why some people will likely never succeed much with certain attitudes. Brad

  i was at university the other night in the computer lab, cruising this site, well a fellow classmate who has been in my class since sept and we have become friends, walks past, looks at the site i am on and says, "i noticed you are on a jw site, did you know i am a jw, are you one?".

  i was shocked.

  Holy shit, buddy. You said this to Little toe, in your second commentary:

  No words cause any harm; it is the reaction of the recipient that determines whether harm is taken or given out. These things can be controlled if the person is mature and disciplined enough. I am, are you?

  Yet YOU have taken great offense to people's words even when they are just trying to allow you to see it in a different light. WOW!!

  I am reminded of the saying, "He knows not what he is saying." Your "reaction" has been one of insults and condescention. Look at yourself before you accuse others of being of less than you. Quite often the accuser is proven to be the one with the greatest character flaws.

  I started reading your reply to everyone and got half-way through your comment to Little Toe and felt I needed to make a comment.

  Don't believe that age is a factor in anybody's opinion of your comments. Sometimes recognizing your age is a "polite" way to disagree with your opinions. I have learned more from my children than I ever learned from my parents, and my kids are much younger than you.

  Most people on this forum are not here to piss you off or tell you that you are wrong. However you might get pissed off at them even though they didn't intend to make you feel that way. YOU are in control of your feelings. IMO, your basic feelings seem to be anger and hate.

  Like I said in a previous post, vent away my friend, but don't expect others here to be as angry as you seem to be.
