Orange Fat Cat,
I am very offended that you don't consider me to be one of your feline friends! I thought I was pretty cute and adorable!
ok, it isn't really crack... but it might as well be!.
i have to be very careful not to leave any plastic bags anywhere around my apartment or my cat will try to eat it.
i'm always paying close attention to the plastic bags that i bring home from the store... they all go straight in to a covered trash can so that the cat can't get them.. now, for the last two days he has been puking all over the place and i can't find any plastic that he might have been eating off of... but i am finding the plastic in his puke... so i know thats what is going one.

i have a program that has the kjv of the bible, and it allows me to install other bibles to compare translations.
i want to install the nwt from the watchtower cd and i can't figure out the "path" for the directory, to tell this program where to find it.
also, does anyone else know of other "online bibles" that i could download?.
Atheist: I'm not sure I have that much time on my hands! lol I have checked out E-Swords, not sure yet if their downloads will be compatible with the Online Bible program. I've searched the web too and haven't found a version that is downloadable.
Thanks everyone for your help!

Could you clarify that a bit for me? The program I am using is called "Online Bible", it is new and updated. I have managed to upload different translations into this program, but I have no idea where the bible is on the WTS cd.

Wow, and I thought our cats were weird....
The one we have now, he likes our laser pointer - he'll run around chasing it until he's out of breath. He eats my houseplants, loves to scratch up corrugated cardboard, loves the smell of my hair after I dye it ( he tries to "make out" with my head afterwards). But he is the biggest suck and never seems to get enough of our attention. He scratches on our shower curtain to let us know he wants a drink from the tap, and meows for help when he wants to jump up somewhere high (really a big suck). He also sleeps on his head.
His mother liked to find dirty q-tips from the bathroom garbage and play with them. I had to give her her own stash of *clean* q-tips and straws. She also liked the smell of our breath after we brushed our teeth - she would try to stick her face into our mouths - gross.
Cats sure are weird, with all of their different quirks and personality traits!
when i attended with my husband, (i am not jw, he is over 20 yrs.
) i was asked many times who i was studying with, are you studying, etc.
i didn't know what they meant, husband never pressures me with this kind of questioning.
Is there a pattern of publications you are expected to read?
You would study a brochure called "What Does God Require of Us?" or a book called "The Knowledge that leads to everlasting life", or both.
Do they test you after each one to make sure you've ingrained it all before going to the next one?How often (once a week?), how long (months, years?). What is the process?
The book/brochure is set up in a question/answer format. There is no test afterwards to see if you know it all, unless you want to be baptised, in which case you will have to answer a ton of questions on basic doctrine (which you have already said is not going to happen). They like to spend an hour a week on the study, but depending on how often you want to do it, it could be more or less. Basically, you read one chapter at a time - read one paragraph, answer corresponding question. It is very straightforward because you are supposed to answer from the material.
Why do I feel weird one one of the congregation members calls and asks how I am doing? I always feel like they have a hidden agenda, like converting me, which would be a lost cause mind you.
You are probably right - they are always looking to convert someone, and an "unbelieving wife" would be even better! (sarcasm). The whole point of a study is to convert you, it is supposed to lead to baptism, it is not just a method of learning more about their beliefs. If you are not interesting in converting, don't study with them! If you study and decide to stop/not get baptised/whatever, the congregation may view you and your husband differently, and there could be more pressure on him to try to convert you. While it is nice if someone from the congregation is just calling to say hello and is genuinely interested in you, there sometimes are alterior motives for being so friendly.. They may just be hoping that you will see "how nice and loving the congregation is" so you will want to be a part of it. Studying is serious business, don't do it unless you plan on being active as a Witness.

whatever happened to to good-ol-days when you had to pay attention to where you threw your lawn darts so that you wouldn't kill anyone?.
when i was in first grade my family had a set of lawn darts... not the plastic kind... the kind with the heavy steel spike prodruding from the tip.
i loved to go outside and play with them.
hehehe... this one is for Kwin...
He told me that whenever he got new running shoes he would test them out to see how fast they were... by racing cars!
Oh, I'm going to be in trouble for telling that one.... oh well!
lol

You'll shoot your eye out!--VM44 (who has viewed a certain movie too many times!)
lol I was thinking the same thing! Has anyone else seen that movie (A Christmas Story)? If you haven't , you should, it's hilarious!

i was reading in the news about some churches don't have enough space to hold the members, as they are growing so fast here.
one reason i noticed was this:.
kara ruffin, along with husband mark and their two young children, will begin worshiping at the lawndale drive location sunday.
It was a real eye-opener for Kwin and I when we visited a local church (Baptist). We could not believe how hospitable and loving they are there. Also, they are bursting at the seams and raising money for a new building. In one weekend they received more than $40,000 in donations for the new building (from about 500 people) - I was blown away! The kids actually ask to go to church every Sunday and love it. Our friend told us that while he was away with the military, the church took care of his wife, phoned to make sure she was ok, if she needed anything, dropped by to shovel the driveway for her; just very caring. We were with a small group of people from the church and when the pastor found out we had only been attending for a little while, he immediately called everyone over and introduced us. There are a lot of teenagers and young couples, which is a big change from the Kingdom Hall - and everyone is genuine. The WTBS' myth of being the only ones with love, and the only ones to preach, the only ones centred on the family, the only ones experiencing growth, etc are just that - myths! In the five weeks we've been going to services at this church, we feel so much more welcome and at home than we ever did at the KH. The JW's will never experience the kind of growth that these other religions are. More likely, they will actually lose a lot because they can't keep the younger generations in, and the older ones will die off leaving very few to run the ship.
P.S. Very interesting about the mandatory "voluntary" field service - that thought had run through me a few times as well. The WTBS is not going to keep growing as long as they keep bullying/guilting people into following their rules.

mum took this picture in the summer (she loves to photograph flowers, mushrooms and insects) and this one really shocked us - look at the head of the moth!
to us it looks like a little human head!
very strange.
LittleToe: sorry for bringing back those memories, lol
SimpleSally: I will try to find another picture of a moth - she has hundreds (really!) of pictures of stuff like this!
For those that were reminded of the movie the Fly, that is really creepy!!
