"The Pope"
by Blackcat inanyone here have an elder in their congregation who thought he was the head of the congregation ?.
the elder in our congregation was looked up to as god himself by the faithful dubs in the cong.
hence in circles he was nicknamed "the pope".. he even had his own reserved seat in the kingdom hall which no -one dared sit in, it was the only chair in the hall that had armrests on it.....and that was "the popes" seat.

He even had his own reserved seat in the kingdom hall which no -one dared sit in, it was the only chair in the hall that had armrests on it.....and that was "the popes" seat. If I remember correctly it was located about 3 rows from the front and was the end seat on the left hand side. He never seemed to engage in conversation much to the mere mortals in the cong. he just nodded his head as he walked down the aisle as if he was accepting his divine approval from god himself and the mere mortals in the hall didnt deserve to hold a conversation with this wonderful man !
Of course he drove the latest 7 series BMW too, which seemed to be the general rule for elders in this congregation! (they will look pretty silly riding their donkey,s in the "new system! ).
If there is anyone from the Hartlepool England congregation lurking here you will know exactly who I mean.
Heard lately though there are only 2 serving elders now in that particular cong. the fallout must be bad, either that or the other brothers cannot afford BMW,s !!

1983 - White Lines (Don't Do It) - 12 inch (Grandmaster Flash with Melle Mel) ..........returned home from the record store, managed to play it once, mother rushed up stairs removed record, and SNAPPED it in half !!
1984 - I Feel For You - Chaka Khan...........was told by a newbie JW when i was 15 that it was sexually immoral and DEFINITELY NOT for christians.
1985 - Do they know its Christmas - Band Aid ......... loved the song and listened to it to my hearts content , with my headphones on of course !!
just a few from the top of my head , but the list of banned songs was endless !!!!!!!!
Was a fan of the singing talents of Boy George too, and the look on my parents face when they first seen him(or her) was a picture in its self !!

Ireland derserved to win, and although they were knocked out , Mick Mcarthy has gained the respect of the players and hopefully the supporters over that arrogant, over-paid prima-donna Roy Keane !!
I hope he signs the 4 yr contract being offered to him because he will take Ireland on to better things.

Elders of the Jehovah's Witnesses in the US have been given instructions to deal with paedophiles after a series of damaging revelations.
But its critics say that the sect's decision to accept accusations only if the abuse has two independent witnesses is unlikely to solve the problem.
The Watch Tower, its headquarters in Brooklyn, is used to implicit obedience and is struggling to regain its battered authority.
In a letter to be read at services, it says: "We abhor the sexual abuse of children and will not protect any perpetra tor of such repugnant acts ...
"However, we must bear in mind the Bible's clear direction: 'No single witness should rise up against a man respecting any error or any sin. At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses the matter should stand good (Deuteronomy 19:15)."
The church, which has 6 million members around the world, has been convulsed by the revelation that its elders have protected sex offenders, refused to report accusations to the police, and even punished children and families making accusations.
Two members have been charged with "disrupting the unity of the congregation" and "undermining confidence in Jehovah's arrangement" for repeating their accusations on an NBC television programme.
Barbara Anderson, a former headquarters employee who claimed to have seen hundreds of suppressed files of accusations, was expelled after a private hearing held in her absence. The case against the second, Bill Bowen, a Kentucky elder, has been postponed.
Mr Bowen was so alarmed by the suppression of allegations that he created a website, silentlambs.org, to investigate the scale of the problem.
He told NBC: "It's a paedophile's paradise within the organisation. I believe that. I believe it with all my heart."
