Did the JWs conceal crucial info before your baptism

for those that became jws but weren't born in the cult, do you feel that before baptism the dubs withheld from you information that should have been revealed, things that if you were aware of you wouldn't become a jw in the first place, such as the heartless dfing policy.

perhaps focusing on the promise of paradise earth and eternal life makes us forget to search out possible negative issues and that's part of their trickery.

I was already ~~brainwashed~~ hooked, but if I knew these things prior to giving in, I wouldn't have:

Their UN involvement

College being discouraged

Lack of all holidays

Shunning

Just how isolated you truly have to make yourself from things and people that are not "bad"!

What's your culinary specialty?

reading hortensia's topic "menu" made my mouth water.

i remember in the 70's (when we used to be able to have lots of jw social get-togethers like picnics and parties) some of the friends would bring pot-luck specialties that were to die for!.

everyone has a dish they consider their "specialty" which gets high praise and generally requests for the recipe.

Would you die for what you believe?

Would I die for my lack of beliefs? Like the Salem Witch Trial type of thing? Maybe, rather than an emphatic yes, only because of my kids.

Political beliefs/feelings...no way.

Ever blown-off your non-JW family due to cult dynamics or whateva?

i shouldn't have done this, but i did it, and don't know if i regret it or not.

i guess i am in deeply narcissistic mode or something.. the plan was to meet my aunties for dinner here in my town, but i started projecting the night before about their motives for both suddenly being here, one announced (and one unannounced until the last minute).

i suspect it has something to do with my jw grandma's declining health, but who knows?

Simple life, which is better?

i see this all the time in my line of work and the toll it takes on people, marriages and families.

Hugs, sweetie! I could have written your post and can understand how heavy this is weighing on you.

I NEVER would have married my husband if I wasn't a brainwashed zombie 6 years ago!!!! (yes, I have small kids, too) I have been in a shotty mood ever since!!! My life is a living hell every single day. Divorce will be the start of my life as ME.

Life is TOO short to spend it being miserable!!

For example last fest..there was a man that was so smart. He was bright and spoke many languages (Russian being one) . He was very intruiguing and for the life of me I did not get a photo of him and nobody knows who I am talking about. I want to say hello and have no clue who I am talking about.
Damn. Wore a teal green shirt checkered large with white squares. see. oh and bald. lol And I am so sorry that I cannot remember who it was. But he was not part of the mooning of Ninas neighbors.
