i was inspired to go by a fellow poster on the board who encouraged me to examine atheism a little more closely.

i am glad i went.. (now if anyone wants to come here and encourage me to be religious, sorry i won't respond to that on this thread.

That's cool, Gopher. It takes a lot to be open and honest with oneself, thus no longer being afraid to admit a lack of belief in something. It can/does go from being scary to very comforting.

It's perspective. Some might think you now have a dismal outlook on life, when in fact, the new and extreme appreciation for life means quite the opposite!

any therapists on here?

are there any therapists or psychologists on here?

i am thinking of going back to school to be a psychologists specalizing in helping that were in cults.

any advise?

I'm taking Intro to Psychology right now. This week, we've been learning about thinking (including critically). I love this stuff. Go for it!

Human Resources is a good field to get into with a Psych degree, too, if you wanted something in addition to social work.

YO, HOMER FANS, SPENT THE DAY AT THE SIMPSONS MOVIE OPENING!!!

as some of you may know, the simpsons movie had a national contest as to what springfield would host the opening of the simpsons movie, and springfield, vt won.

that happens to be the center of my newspaper's circulation, so i spent seveal hours today on the "yellow" (yup) carpet interviewing and photographing celebs who created the series and the movie.

international media there like you wouldn't believe.

Why I post here

why do i post here, i havent been to a meeting regularly for almost 16 years, last time i attended memorial i was 14, my wife and i are roman catholic, all my close friends are not jws.

so why do i feel the need to post on here if all that is in my life is so far away from the kingdumb hall?

these are questions often asked to me by some of my friends and sometimes even my wife, they say well you left that behind years ago, that is true, however most of my family on my mothers side are still jws, i still deal with what i went through going up in the org, being able to share that with other people who also had similar experience is great.

There are PEOPLE here that I share a common bond with. There are a lot of beautiful people here who I would not otherwise have known if I didn't post here. There's nothing wrong with it nor does it keep me stagnant in life.
