Is this when they changed the baptism vows to allegiance to the WTBTS? This meant that they couldn't be taken to court and sued for disfellowshiping someone for not following their rules. Previously we were vowing allegiance to Jehovah and Jesus and not the WTBTS.

I remember this, not being announced, but talked about freely amongst JWs at the Dudley Assembly Hall.

Apparantly it was because of: 'You know what those Americans are like always sueing people. Well the WTBTS have had to change the vows and then they can't be sued anymore!' Words to that effect. You Naughty Americans!

a) Pet salmon?!

b)Hubby was just of down to the news agents to get his lottery winnings..heheheheh...when I rang him and asked him to pick up the Mail on Sunday. Lo and behold it's true. Sutcliffe is studying to become a witness and plans to be baptised in the Broadmoor Pool. He seems to show little remorse for his 13 victims though. Wonder what the damage control dept at the WTBTS is doing as we speak?

My situation

about the begginning of last year i was just getting out of depression, and was having serious doubts about "the truth" seeing how i was never really involved in it i felt as though it didnt help me through my depression.

i currently am 18 and still live with my parents who are still going to meetings.

i go with them to the meetings when i am not working, but i am going mostly for them, and i dont think they know that i am even slightly interested in the religion(i am not even baptised).

I would imagine that the JWs will have something to say along the lines of how they accept all truly repentant sinners.

But as I understand it Sutcliffe has been attempting to be released from prison. Psychotic killers are 'extremely clever'. Joining a religion can be a clever disguise to them to help secure release. I believe the Home Office, or hope that the Home Office is one step ahead.
