Well, I think most JW's wouldn't even consider writing a will anyway: most don't believe they are going to die, so what's the point...

How Many of You Have Put the WTBTS in Your Will?
by SillyPutty init seems like every service meeting they are suggesting we give toward one thing or another.
even printed in several of the watchtowers or awakes that it would be ok to leave all our belongings to the society in our will.
we can't give blood, but they sure are asking for it.

Oh, and how many people from Morocco id themselves as "Africans?" Seems to me some groups from that CONTINENT just are hijacking the name...
I think we're just going a tad overboard on the world domination theme, lol.

"Your missing the point here,
Americans think that they ALONE are America."
Don't think I'm missing the point. I think you're belaboring one. As my last post explained, people from the US are certainly NOT the only one's who might view "America" to designate people from the US. And, UNITED STATES, is not the title of this country--there are other United States around the world. I suppose if we took THATname for the USA, THAT would be arrogant, like we think we are the ONLY United States....
"If I said Canada alone was America, now you would get mad, no???"
I wouldn't get mad personally; in fact I work for an org where Canada, the US, and Latin America are all called "the Americas."
But, if Canada wanted to id themselves as "Canada of America," then sure, I can see how it might logically be shortened to America by some. Since "America" is part of the USA's title, that's what happens.
" I'm not talking at all about the name Americans, that's something else. Thats a perfect name"
I'm partial to "United Stations." not

"When travelling abroad, when someone is asked about their citizenship, if you are from the United States, it is almost a given that you are identified as: American."
You took the words right out of my American mouth...I've travelled/lived abroad, and I honestly id'd myself as from the United States, thinking that America would be too vague. I cannot tell you how many times I heard europeans and others ID the US as America, and people from the US as "American." A few of the Brits called them "the states," but the USA doens't have the only country with states, of course.

Jehovah's Witnesses Feel Superior To Others. What About EX-JW's???
by minimus ineveryone knows the smugness that jw's have.
"everyone is going to die except us because we only have the truth.
" do you think that ex-witnesses continue this same smugness once they get out and realize what really is the truth?

Interesting question. At first I was about to respond that I only feel superior to JW's because I was raised as one, know their doctrines, including their secret agendas intimately, and had the courage and convictions to get out in spite of an incredible amount of family and general psychological pressure. For this courage, what was unleashed upon me from my family were diatribes about unfaithfulless, selfishness, apostacy, not living up to my dedication (which I made at the ripe old age of 13)... IMO my own family, bolstered by this unforgiving religion abandoned me. Do I feel superior to them? Yes, honestly I think I do. Otherwise, I don't think I could deal with the lonliness and the need to create my own life after abandoning the fallacy of my upbrining.
As an ex-JW, I AM highly opinionated on a few issues. I think those strong opinions stemmed in part from my being raised as a JW, be repressed in so many issues, realizing that my family's belief systems were a lie. I think most people just naturally develop a strength of convinctions, which can at time come out negatively as skepticim, cynicim, smugness, etc.
I honestly do not feel superior to other people/groups (other than the JW's). I don't think I can escape this feeling of superiority of JWs at this point in my life because of my experience. Maybe I'll grow out of it:).

To be perfectly honest, when I first saw this guy's actions/statements, it felt kinda contrived. Almost like a show. It ran through my mind (tho I didn't tell anyone at the time) that he might have actually started the fire to look like some sort of hero. From what I've casually heard on the news, it turns out he rescued another child(ren) from a burning building before. Hmm....very strange.

All I can say is that when you decide it's time, it's TIME. You want a baby. And nothing less than a baby do.
Do it!! I did it twice. And all I can say is when it hits you, it hits you! Do it!

Do we have double standards about JWs?
by Skeptic indo we have a double standard as far as jws are concerned?
yes, i know that their claims of being better than any other religion sets them up for higher expectations.
and yes, generally jws are judgemental.

This difference I see is that the JW CLAIM to be the only org god is dealing with on earth. They CLAIM to be better people, they CLAIM to be honest, loyal, hardworking, good citizens, have "love among themselves." They actively DOWNPLAY goodness in other people and groups (in fact, my mother, when she say the heroic, selfless rescue of travelers on a crashed plane several years ago on the news, insisted that the many who risked his life to help others MUST have been a witness...ugh. It's like she couldn't process that there could be brave heroic people outside JW's org...
If JW's didn't make such a big deal about how wonderful, and god-blessed they are (unlike everyone else of course), I don't think they'd get as much flack. I don't believe too many other religions try to promote such a flawless image. If they do, then yes, I think they do deserve to have their flaws pointed out.
