Congratulations, Spain - first government to fall because of Iraq, Bush!

congratulations to the spanish people, who voted the socialists to power as a protest against the conservative government's supporting bush's war on iraq, and for claiming the madrid bombs were acts of the eta nationalists and not an al-qaida attack because of the war on iraq.. so one government has fallen, and there are many more to come, bush.. who says these days ain't fun?

Do as you like. And if your side of the "debate" is that we only need to provide these people with more "understanding" of what's causing their frustrations, as I think it appears to be, then good riddence. I for one can see absolutely NO reasons for killing innocent people and children to make a point, to be in any way justified. You seem to want to help us sympathize with them. Sorry, I cannot. Under NO circumstances should such killing of innocent victims to make a point be justified. That is NEVER the solution, and they should be made aware that it is not.

"People who think bush was okay in invading Iraq are not going to listen to arguments." No, it's not that. I like a good argument. But all I've seen/heard is Monday morning quarterbacking. It is not easy to make decisions on what action to take/not to take, esp. when national security is at stake. You act upon the best intel available at the time. Sadaam repeated violated the terms of his commitments, and ended up playing a hide and seek game. The US called his bluff...something he obviously hadn't counted on. When we actually got into Iraq and saw more of the horror he was hiding with his incredible violation of human rights, it merely provided MORE justification for deposing the guy. Also, the great UN kickback scheme which Saddam was beneiftting from and his people were starving from, is being uncovered of late. Saddam played a dangerous game and lost. If you think, and the author of the 257 or whatever lies thinks we should have just left the guy alone, that's your call. I, however, do not.

I'm frankly amazed at the depth of rationale you are stooping to to try to make your point, which is one of the reasons I don't have time for the whining "257 lies..." Let's see. Tyranny DOES breed order. A while back there was a piece on TV on how hospitals in IRAQ were undergoing some major problems..they were not run in the orderly fashion they had been run before the war. The reason: people previously did their jobs out of fear for their lives. Now, that fear was lifted, and they didn't have the same attitude... Democracy does take a certain spirit...wanting to do the right thing. Dictatorships are very orderly; Hitler was a master organizer. I suppose that's your priority.

Victory for Terrorism

the terrorists won a great victory in spain.

mind you, i'm all for the democratic process...it's great...and had the spanish decided to part ways with the us of it's own volition, great!...however, the socialists were project to not win a majority in this weekends election...that is until the terrorist attack.

now, with the socialist coming into power...and the promise to both withdraw the 1300 spanish soldiers from iraq and to part ways with the us on foriegn policy we can look for more such attacks in other countries.

You are out of line. Check the guidelines... I'll assume you just lost your temper because you did not have a cogent response.

Let me spell it out loud and clear for you: The Afghanis were ruled by the Taliban, who was led by, none other than our favorite TERRORIST, Osama bin Laden. During his "terrorist regime," women were brutally oppressed, unable to appear in public, beaten if they did not wear burquas (I can define this if you want me to), unable to attend school, on an on and on. This must appear condencending to you because a) you did not KNOW about it, and/or b) you don'y give a flying flip.

Which just further points out your lack of knowledge on this issue (not too condencending, I hope!) The Ultra-terrorist, our favorite torturer, Osama bin Laden, enslaved, tortured, oppressed women during his terroristic regime. Thanks to the US intervention, women are being educated, they are not being brutalized, their status has changed from second or no-class citizens to respected equals.

If you want to get technical with "terrorist" versus "terrorist regimes," go right ahead. Bin Laden qualifies under both categories. Let me know if you have further questions, or if you'd simply like me to "piss up a rope"

if you have not a care for human life, and would rather try to blow up thousands of people if given the chance, would you call yourself human?

the reason i ask is, would you have any problem putting a gun to a known terrorist head and pulling the trigger?

iono if i could do it yet, because i haven't been in that situation.

Really, it's apparently pointless. I'm debating with someone who, frankly, is unaware of anything with regard to terrorist regimes.

Here's a suggestion...do web searches, since that's easier for most people. on the Afghan treatment of women PRIOR to the US war on Afganistan. Burquas, not able to appear in public, not able to be educated... Then also look at the pligt of women in Sadaams regime...not pretty.

Sorry you are not aware enough of world events to even debate this issue.

Ah, yes. Invading Iraq and deposing Sadaam was evil. After all, he was a ruling sovereign. We should have respected that. Never mind that he was a horrific, tyrannical dictator that murdered tens of thousands of innocent people for their religious/political beliefs. That damned Bush lied, lied, lied....We shoulda just left the poor guy alone.
