Swan: I LOVED the Bridges of Madison County. One of the best of all time.
My hated movie of all time:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the new one) . First movie I actually walked out of and asked for my money back since the JW days. Absolutely horrible.
we often talk about the best films that we have seen but what about the opposite, what were some films that really disappointed you either at the cinema or at home watching them from a dvd (or vhs though that got outdated now)?
one film i found very boring was the "horse whisperer".

did anyone see oprah yesterday (wed 3/22)?
i'm wondering what you thought of it.. the guy named justin cabezas (who killed the woman and her daughter in a car crash by drag racing) was in my high school class.. i just wanted to say he truly is a very nice guy.
i remember he actually was kind of quiet but very smart and a deep-thinker.
So true, about forgiveness changing everything, even the guilty party.
And I'm not College Girl, I'm The Good Girl!

The guy named Justin Cabezas (who killed the woman and her daughter in a car crash by drag racing) was in my high school class.
I just wanted to say he truly is a very nice guy. I remember he actually was kind of quiet but very smart and a deep-thinker. He used to write poetry all the time, but wouldn't let anyone read it. I remember sitting in Geometry class with him, and we were talking to him about his poems, and he said "I don't let anyone read any of my peotry, ever." (We were 14 years old at the time.)
It's really sad what happened. Of course, he shouldn't have been drag racing, but it makes me think about all criminals, and who they were before they "committed their crime."
(If you didn't see it, he basically pleaded guilty to manslaughter (?), but at the last minute, the husband of the family killed talked to justin, and then dropped all charges.) Now they both go around to schools together and talk about the dangers of drag racing.
this article from awake!
in may 1980 is an example of the worst sort of emotional argument.
i'm just going to post it, barf, and then comment later.. *** g80 5/22 p. 16 ***.
You know, even after leaving JWs, I always said, "I could never get an abortion, kill my own child." BUT...
Then I was in this condom-breaking situation, and I find myself sitting in the waiting room of the campus medical office, and waiting for my urine test to come back, cause my period is late. The test took longer than expected, they said I drank too much water, the test was no good, had to go get the blood test (to test for pregnancy).
During the long wait, I made a very firm decision that I WOULD get an abortion if it's a positive test. I had JUST moved out 2 months prior, had JUST gotten a housing scholarship plus 100% tuition paid. I just didnt' want to hear "I told you so" for the rest of my life. I was so not ready for a kid. The boyfriend was okay, but NOT "father-of-my-baby" material.
Now, 6 years later, if I got prego, I would keep the kid, or put it up for adoption, not get an abortion, just because I somehow think it's the right thing to do. Even now, I guess I could say I'm leaning back to pro-life, for my own personal opinion.
But when you are in the situation, you never know what you will decide to do. So try not to judge.
do you have the impression that some still think that you're a jw?.
let it be old friends or acquaintances or work collegues or even family, did you take the time to tell them that you're no longer a jw?.
i know that my cousins think that i'm still a jw.
Some friends, when I tell them of my childhood, they assume I'm still a JW. It's like, "NO, I USED to be." But sometimes, people don't get that it's a huge huge difference between "used to be" and "currently practicing".
A friend of mine gave me several gifts for Christmas, and I was embarrassed I didnt' have one for her, so I told her, sorry, "I'm not so good with this stuff, it's only my 4th Christmas, I USED to be a JW..." She was then like, oh, I'm sorry, well, it's not really Christmas, just a "winter gift", see, no santa clause on the wrapping paper, etc.
I was so frustrated. "no, no, I'm not currently a JW!!!" It's sometimes better not just not bring it up.
dear all,.
i thought i'd best make a new thread rather than add my message to the vigil thread, for example, as it might not otherwise get noticed.. yesterday afternoon i was allowed home from the hospital - but only until wednesday morning!
as many of you will know, i have been in christie cancer hospital in manchester, england, ready to undergo a stem cell transplant (in my case, stem cells taken from my blood to be returned later).
Glad you're feeling a bit stronger. You're X-JDub family is here for ya!
read why now!
(prweb) february 21, 2005 -- many people will remember a famous tv ad where a woman races to her washing machine, fabric softener in hand, only to arrive just as the wash ends.
this woman who "forgot to ad the fabric softener" was actually doing herself and her family a favor.. .
Nathan, You're absolutely right. People died in their 40's, and the infant mortality rate was sky high. Kids died all the time, due to diseases that are now kept at bay due to vaccinations. So now we all die of the next highest killers: heart disease and cancer. But you can keep your body from getting those for a few years anyway by changing your lifestyle.
I took a class, and the professor said such a true thing. You cannot make yourself live longer than your genes were meant to live, you can only make yourself live a shorter time than you were meant to by exposing yourself to (cigarettes, getting fat, driving wrong way on a one-way, etc.)
'Course, another thing you could expose yourself to is these harmful chemicals.
You know, there's another bad chemical that EPA just added it to their list. (Can't remember name of it.) It's found in non-stick cookware, stain-resistant furniture, etc (both of which we just purchased in the last year.) But, I've read that there's so much in the environment already, you just can't avoid it.

who is watching the sopranos tonight?
and for those of you who are--tell the truth--how many of you are eating italian food for dinner, or will experience a sudden craving for it after watching tonight's episode?
How about Tony's son? (forgot his name.)
This may be a stretch, but I think he's going to turn out with schizophrenia. Did you catch that Meadow says "It's all in your head that I was looking at your plate!" to her brother when he accuses her of suspecting him of faking his flu. Now he's flunked out of school, and is thinking of murdering Junior...

I'm a huge fan of the show. Okay, so what did you think of this week? I kind of like these odd "dream" shows, where half of the show is a dream of Tony's.
I just have no idea where they will go with the show from here. If you saw the previews for next week, they tell Carmella that she needs to lower her expectations of Tony's outcome. The whole show is about him, where can they go from here?
i got up the courage to send this paper i've been working on to every witness i have an e-mail address for (including my family and a former co).. listen to this!!!
within 20 minutes i already got a reply from a jw sister who expressed how "dumb she now feels" after reading it.. obviously not that i want her to feel dumb but her eyes are opening!
for the first time i think i see some progress.. based on the book "combatting cult mind control" by steve hassan .
This is great. Wish I had it to read when I was in.
