my da announcement was last tuesday, so i have been on the official jw shun list for about a week now.... i am curious how you handle shunning.my situation:.
i have spoken with my family (my parents and 1 brother) and discussed whether they will shun me.
i explained that biblically they should not shun me since i am not an antichrist, and i have not rejected the teaching that jesus cam in the flesh.

I shun them back! No begging for communication from me. (Unless it is my family. Then I let them know that they are being ridiculous and are truly hurting my feelings, and I would never do that to them. It worked once on my mom, but she keeps changing her mind...)
But as far as former friends, I like GaryBus' policy: shun them back. I remember he once said "I disfellowship them right back!"

this is my first post here on the site, though i have spent many countless hours as a guest reading and reading your posts and conversations.
they have been a great encouragement to me, who as a young woman was disfellowshipped from the society about nine years ago.
Welcome, MOXIE. It is the one thing that keeps me from going back: the cruelty of disfellowshiping. Very unloving.

how do they handle it when a doctor orders a blood transfusion on their patient?.
I'm a nurse, and I would definitely have a blood transfusion if needed. I've seen them save plenty of lives.
BUT I've also started donating blood since leaving the JWs, and noticed that often it's the "down and out" who donate blood or plasma for money. It makes me "squeamish" to think that maybe the guy who is donating the plasma may have lied on his paperwork regarding questions about unprotected sex, needle use, etc.
I know other JW nurses don't "spike the blood" (put the tubing into the blood bag and attach it to the patient), but they would do everything else around it. (monitor vital signs while blood being infused, etc.) Other nurses on the floor would spike the blood for them. They would work it out in their interview process before accepting the job.
long story short, i have been dfd for 2 or 3 years.
i have not really been counting.
best 2-3 years of my life.
"We are so close"...perhaps just another thousand years or so?

3. go to a football world cup final.. 4. do a streak whilst pissed out of your head.
Funny, ifcv, I don't agree with any of your items on your list except "visit all continents of the world." But I guess that's why we're all unique.
Mine:
1. visit all continents of the world.
2. live abroad for a year
3. climb Mt. Everest
4. run a marathon
5. clean my house, including the office, and organize it
6. have a baby/or adopt
7. read David Copperfield and Little Women (for my mom--her favorites)
8. travel with my dad
9. learn Spanish
10. Visit every state in the US? (I'm running out of things, to be honest)

as a witness i only worked with other witnesses for 35 years.
now thrust out into the real world i find myself unprepared .

You sound like you actually have just run into seriously bad jobs. Where do you work? Who do you work with? My jobs have been rough, but when you really look at it, it's just one or two people who are being the b-withes.
I've found that I keep a rule, always work at least a year at every job. Never quit before that. You may find that they are mean only at first, before they trust you. They still view you as an "outsider" until you prove yourself. Other times, they may just need to know they can trust you at the job. So they basically reject you until the trust you, then there may be a sudden flip in attitude, as you become one of them.
(That was my experience as a nurse, anyway.)
But if it really is that bad, maybe you just are having a bad luck streak of working with bad people. But most of the "world" actually isn't like that.

Yes, go register. I think you can do that at the post office (?) Or if you live in a big city, at you local alderman's office. You have to bring proof of where you live. ID and/or phone bill, something like that.
The bottom line with republicans and democrats:
Republicans beleive in the trickle down effect: If you make the top rich people richer, the money will trickle down to everyone because the top guys will have big businesses where they can hire the other guys, and then the other guys will have jobs, etc. It's sort of "work hard and you'll get what you deserve."
Democrats beleive a little more that we have to watch out for the little guy. So yes, they may raise taxes, but then you get more services for the little guy like Head Start, or universal health care, etc.
Maybe you already know all this, but I just love introducing JWs to politics.
I personally am a democrat because I was raised poor, mental illness runs in my family (thus "getting a job with health insurance" is just not realistic for some of us), and I work in healthcare, so see the "little guys" who fall between the cracks. The're not lazy, they often do try to get a job, but it is just not possible for many people out there to live a perfect 9-5 life.
ANYWAY, you should register to vote, it's just one more step away from the JW mindset that you should follow your authorities, no questions asked.
