  I don't buy any products intended for women to purchase that are 1) in a pink package and/or 2) cost more than the equivalent male product. I hate it when parents or society tell a girl that pink is her color and blue is only for a boy. I knew a mother who loved blue and dressed her daughter in blue when she was a baby. She finally got tired of people coming up and telling what a cute baby boy she had, She finally put a tag on the baby, I'm a girl.

  The term “trophy wife” has taken on a new, more upscale meaning. Men are finding the most attractive and sexually desirable women are not brainless beauties whose sole function is to look good and stay quiet, but women who are making good money and are in positions of power (See: Amal Clooney). The woman who got ahead on her looks by marrying a “sugar daddy” is now being replaced by the woman who is equal to her man in earning power and career position. That’s sexy.

  It goes further than that. According to anthropologist Dr. Stephen Juan, who recently appeared on The Today Show, we are seeing the demise of the “trophy wife” and welcoming the rise of the “power couple”.

  ays Dr. Juan:

  A really strong man wants a woman who is equal to him, that is the truth of it now. A weak man wants someone that is docile and a servant to him — it is a real sign of insecurity in a man to want a brainless trophy wife. Wives can be beautiful, intelligent and have careers and opinions just as strong as their partners.

  I really don't care. Women are more than good looks. Men are more than good looks.

  If you look at the men in politics, many are not good looking, even homely and fat. Yet, their looks are not what is important or mentioned as being a factor of their importance. It is what they do and say that should be investigated.

  This letter shows that elders were not required to report members to legal authorities if they had committed murders and not been found out before they became jws. If a brother can hide his murders with the help of the BOE, why would I be surprised that the same is true of "murder"?

  San Francisco authorities go co-co bananas

  authorities in sf have decided to 'sanitise' language around criminals.. because, yeah, that's the big problem facing san francisco, not drug abuse, gangs, violence, people crapping in the street or illegal immigrants.

  glad to know they've got their priorities sorted.

  under this stunning and brave new scheme, a criminal who's served his sentence will be referred to as a 'returning resident who was involved with the justice system'.

  WT Teaching That You Can't Leave Behind

  after posting on another thread it became apparent to me that it can be difficult for some ex jws to totally shake off all wt teaching , even after leaving the org.

  do you still feel guilty going into a church for a wedding or a funeral .

  can you bring yourself to celebrate birthdays or christmas .

  To me the blood issue was the big one; it was 4 years after I left that I changed all my legal documents saying I would accept one. I also started donating blood as well (I know some do not qualify even if they wanted to).
  

  As to the rest, I just chose what I thought was healthy for me, body and mind. I did not choose what to believe or do things just to be opposite anything jw. But I made my own examination apart from WT teaching/policies, and followed my choice.

  PS I changed regarding transfusions, when I realized that the WTS was condoning using stored blood when they made using hemoglobin-based products a conscience matter, products made out of expired human blood and even animal blood. No point in dying for a very open hypocritical and legalistic decision. What about the law about pouring out the blood immediately after killing an animal?

  i kind of like the 50’s and early 60’s because of the innocence and “happy days” outlook by that generation.

  it seems most people were pretty innocent and real.. would you rather be living in a different era or is this century working for you?

  I'd pick right now. The pros outweigh the cons so far to me. I appreciate that we are not as on the brink of world war as in the past. I grew up in the Cold War in a military family that knew what lurked behind the official info. Medical discoveries have made some seemingly undefeatable illnesses no longer so. But not being able to afford health insurance in some areas might offset.

  I have lived through the times starting with the Korean conflict until today; it is not a slanted history experience and I have lived many places over the world. It is good to talk to people who have lived in these times, from various walks of life, to get the true overall picture, not just the seemingly good highlights from history books.
