Confession Time - Music You're Embarrassed to Admit Listening To
by Simon inadmit it, we all have things that we reel off when people ask what our favourite music is, just the same as if people ask what our favourite movies are.
we're meant to say "citizen kane" and "casablanca" and not "battleship" or "pacific rim" but we know what we're going to watch if they are ever on tv at the same time (and which ones we've never actually seen).. so how about some confession time?
what do you listen to when no one else is in the house?.

All or nothing, better than great. He has some good humor, personal revelations, and was willing to play quite a few of his old songs, Wings songs, and some of his new songs.
He talks about his family.
His grandchildren call him Granddude.
It is hard for me to think of him as a grandfather.

"Do you believe that the 'faithful slave' is God's channel of communication?"
by The Fall Guy inif a jw had the nerve to ask me this question, i'd say to them, "you go first.
using only scriptural proof, show me why you believe that the wtbts/ccojw is god's choice and i'll tell you if i agree with your scriptural reasoning.".
wait for the silence and the rabbit in the headlights moment.. i searched on the wt cd rom for references of "channel of communication.".

What is the WTS definition of presumptousness?
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2017246#h=12:0-13:383
What are “presumptuous acts”? By definition, when someone rashly or impertinently does something that he is not authorized to do, he is acting presumptuously. Because of inherited sin, we all act presumptuously at times. But as King Saul’s example illustrates, if we develop a pattern of pushing ahead, sooner or later we will find ourselves in serious trouble with God. Psalm 119:21 says of Jehovah: “You rebuke the presumptuous.” Why is that?

I saw the tv series "Why We Hate" on Discovery, episode one. They have an interview with the granddaughter.
I have DirectTV, and you probably can find it on their OnDemand feature. Or somewhere else if someone on here knows that.
She explains why she thought she was doing the right thing and what made her start questioning and researching which led to her decision to leave.
This might work

Rub a Dub, I know how you feel. My husband got us both tickets to see Paul McCartney in person for our anniversary (I missed the 60's since I was a jw teenager at the time.

If the FDS is God's (only) channel of communication, he should fire them. They are making him look bad and damaging sincere people.

I have to admit that I was a Manilow fan back when he was really popular. I liked how he arranged songs by others to sound so much better than the original covers. He arranged for the Beach Boys and Bette Midler.
But some stars dim and others still burn brightly.
Example: Elton John

Bring to ruin those ruining the earth, but what if we change.
by pleaseresearch inthis has come up recently with two family members who are jws.
if they are talking about this you can bet that others are too.
they seem to be all excited that a lot of attention in the news right now is about climate change, greta, extinction rebellion etc... as you can image they are very smug saying see.

Just a quick thought: Would some religions consider this scripture or others to mean that the Biblical flood ruined the earth?

why do jws hate pagans?
by nowawake14 inpaganism from my view is just a mental fantasy.
it's not real.
so why do jws get mad at it anyway?

I can remember when pinatas and going to a luau were considered pagan. The WTS reconsidered on that.
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102004486#h=14:0-16:499
Piñatas I read with interest the article “The Piñata—An Ancient Tradition.” (September 22, 2003) It left me with some questions. The ties to false religion are well-documented. But the article seemed to take the position that as long as it doesn’t bother someone’s conscience, it is OK. What about birthdays and holidays such as Christmas?
S. W., United States
“Awake!” responds: Christians refrain from any celebrations or customs that continue to involve false religious beliefs or activities that violate Bible principles. For example, the Bible definitely puts birthday celebrations in a bad light. (Genesis 40:20;Matthew 14:6-10) However, if it is very obvious that a custom has no current false religious significance and involves no violation of Bible principles, each Christian must make a personal decision as to whether he will follow such a custom.
And Luaus
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102002410?q=luau&p=sen
Although the luau may originally have had some connection with false religious practices, the word has simply come to refer to a Hawaiian banquet. Many Christians may therefore conscientiously feel that they can participate.
