I was reading an article on how motels/hotels are so short-handed regarding cleaning staff, that rooms may only be cleaned every other day during a stay. Wow, staying in hotels etc may be different this time around; and I never was one to stay in an unknown jw's home. This will be interesting. I live near a local KH and it was busy as they got every thing back in order. I wonder if zoomlike meetings will be mostly a thing of the past, and handled like they used to do with phone hookups?

I took the initiative and wrote him a letter, yes, a letter, explaining how his book had confirmed my concerns about WT teachings. He wrote back right away with a 3-page letter. I mentioned that I was going by where he and Cynthia when we went to FL. He invited us to come to dinner and spend some time visiting. It became an annual thing. He and his wife, Cynthia, were so cute as a couple, had funny things to talk about in their lives as jws and what their new life was like. Ray would take me into his office and we would talk about "serious" things and his doings, and my husband would visit with Cynthia in the kitchen. I met many ex-jws, current jws (yes indeed) and ex-jws that become part of another Christian group. All able to talk and respect each other, but no proselytizing. I was so sad when Ray was injured and died and Cynthia followed shortly after that. I wish everyone could have seen Ray and his photo albums of his life and Cynthia together. I am so glad that his books are still in print, and still have good info that can benefit all jws (who read them) and ex-jws.

Now that some of the GB members are older, how involved do these helpers get? How much input or control over input do they have?

I lived in an area where 3/4 of the people were Mormons. Many tried to "convert" me, I even went to a public screening of a movie about their beliefs. It was like watching a science fiction movie. They were always kind to me and invited me to their home. One family had 20 children, the first 4 adopted until they were able to have their own children (having children is important because it gives spirits in heaven a chance to come down to earth and be tested). They took me around and showed me how they organized their family so everyone had someone to look out for. The oldest were assigned one of the younger ones, and the middle kids were on their own. They did not play in their bedrooms, but had a large play room with toys, books, etc., for everyone to play with. But when play was over, everything was picked up and put away. They had 3 washing machines and 3 dryers, going almost constantly. No one sat around, everyone helped with meals, setting and clearing table, helping prepare food, or watching over the young ones. Even I had to help making freshly churned butter (they had a large dairy farm). No pressure at all, just friendly. I know that this is not the case with every LDS, but this was 47 years ago. But I felt their ideas were even more bizarre than the WTS and that is saying a lot.

Thanks, Atlantis. I don't have as much time as in the past to post, part of me wishes there were "highlights" of this or Cliff Notes. Thanks for all your hard work for us and others.

We have been supporting our local restaurants, pizza, barbecued ribs, southern friend chicken. Alternate one a week. We have managed not to gain weight, we do cook as much as home as we can.

Saving "mark" on forehead: A CROSS?
by Terry inezekiel 9:4.
“go throughout the city of jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
in the script used during old testament times it was either in x shape or a + shape.

The WTS has actually said this: "The act of baptism is a vital part of “the mark” that identifies you for salvation.—Ezekiel 9:4-6." and this "Bible prophecies show that God views such ones as marked to survive the execution of his judgment soon to come upon this wicked system of things. (Ezekiel 9:1-6; Malachi 3:16, 18) Are you “rightly disposed for everlasting life”? (Acts 13:48) Is it your earnest desire to be marked as one serving God? Dedication and baptism are part of that mark, and they are essential for survival." and this "Only those ‘marked’ for salvation will survive into Jehovah’s new system. (Ezek. 9:2-6) How happy those who submit to this ‘marking’ for survival will be because of their dedicated relationship with Jehovah God, as symbolized by water baptism!" Don't you know this can only be the right answer because the WTS said so?

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

Beard phobia, Charles Taze Russell had quite a luxuriant beard as did many of the men by his side and in the rest of the WTS. When Russell died, the control of the WTS was up for grabs, and Rutherford grabbed it. But not everyone supported him and Rutherford seemed to think that these men kept their beards as an affront to him. So he ordered no beards, and eventually chucked one out who refused to shave. After that it was no beards, even Jesus could not have a beard. The WTS finally decided there was too much "evidence" that Jesus did have a beard and let Jesus have his beard back, but no one on earth could have one and be in good standing with the WTS/GB. hahaha
