Inactive does not mean not going to any meetings, it means not "turning in" time on a slip to the congregation. I knew a jw who had not been to the meetings for 15 years, but always turned in a "time slip" every 5th month, and it was accepted and counted, and he was considered "active." It is all a numbers game. If a person does preach and does not "turn in" a "time slip" and an elder finds out, they have begged the person to "count" that time, so the numbers regarding members look good to headquarters.

Thanks for remembering me. I have not read a WT study article for 2 years now. The articles were getting to be wash, rinse, repeat 2 years ago. It is always a harangue about how everyone is not doing enough, should keep striving to be "perfect" although elders always excuse their official decisions that go awry, "elders are imperfect too" but the rest of the members are not making official
"judgments" about the spiritual standing of others. Hope everyone is doing well. Love, Blondie

Memorial Letter Invite 2022
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy friend ( who knows that i was a witness at one time ) showed me a letter sent to his house by one of his neighbors.
he barely know the person, and this letter shows in his mail box.
does this witness really believe that anyone who receives this letter will attend the memorial?

In over 60 years and attending at over 15 congregations throughout the US, and 5 other countries, only saw one drop in and he had been drinking something alcoholic before he came.

Saving "mark" on forehead: A CROSS?
by Terry inezekiel 9:4.
“go throughout the city of jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
in the script used during old testament times it was either in x shape or a + shape.

waton, I found it on the Watchtower Online Library. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1102017189#h=3:0-27:0 (Interesting the old congregation book study is a discussion of every updated, clarified, adjusted teaching of the WTS). I looked at a couple, and it seems that the WTS has a lot of house cleaning to attempt.

waton, that is interesting as to the slant the WTS is putting on the "mark for survival." Of course, the WTS has said that status at baptism has to be maintained until when "armageddon" breaks out, not "once saved, always saved" other religions teach. I will look that up, which book is that? I notice in 2017 the WTS said this: "
The great crowd will receive the mark when they are judged as sheep during the great tribulation"
(That makes sense based on what they have said previously about the mark. The WTS teaches that when the great tribulation breaks out (GT) that ends the possibility of people being baptized as jehovah's witnesses, and jws then being judged by god as being really qualified. (just reporting not supporting). The time between the GT and armageddon then will be a period of time that supposedly the governments will try to get rid of all religion, even try to destroy jws. Is this confusing, yes, especially if you have to edit previous statements the WTS has said about Ezekiel 9. The WTS even teaches that "anointed" jws must be faithful until their death to be rewarded with being resurrected to heaven. Thanks for sharing that update, can you point me to where that was said?)

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

I don't think Jesus would have been df'd, but he certainly would have had his "privileges" taken away, unless he started going around telling people in the congregationthat the elders were "making the word of God invalid because of their traditions." I guess the bible says he did, and the religious leaders then had him put to death--the WTS says df'ing is like being killed, according to the WTS capital offenses under the Law code were ones punished by execution. Of course, under the Law code, men were supposed to have beards. (This reminds me again of how the WTS conveniently applies a scripture to support their ideas)

Vidqun, "Hi Blondie, good to hear from you. According to context, first and foremost application should belong to those earmarked to survive the Babylonian occupation, especially the destruction of Jerusalem. " I'm not trying to disprove the WTS belief on this, just that the WTS is deceptive when they say they don't teach that only jws will survive Armageddon, and because they say the "mark" for survival is baptism as one of jws. I understand that the context is totally different, but then the WTS has almost always ignored the context of any scripture they use to support their strange beliefs.

Anyone else remember the Awake saying this?
by BottanicPepper ini may have put this in the wrong thread.
if so, i'm sorry.. my conundrum is this.... i am almost completely certain that an awake back in the 80's/90's mentioned a group of rock bands we shouldn't listen to and i seem to remember them actually naming guns and roses.. i can't find anything now, and i'm wondering if it's the mandela effect, or if it's another case of the cdrom versions of the awakes being doctored again.. does anyone else remember this?
or am i crazy?

When in Vancouver, BC, I heard a talk given by a DO who was upset that some young jws had gone to a Guns and Roses concert instead of his talk. He compared going to that concert like eating some decaying raspberries. That was over 25 years ago and I still remember that.
