The timing is especially sad. "While President Donald Trump weighs the single most consequential decision of his time in office so far — the possibility of US military intervention in Iran — he’s also completing a personal project years in the making. Trump on Wednesday morning oversaw the installation of a pair of flagpoles on the White House lawn, one on the south side of the building, the other on the north." https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/18/politics/flagpoles-white-house-donald-trump

*** km 9/76 p. 8 Question Box ***Might a discussion using the Bible alone be reported as a study? (…) But at times persons are unwilling to use any literature other than the Bible. (…) As the individual gains confidence, an appropriate publication might be introduced. When this is done, we do not want to give the impression that we are changing from a Bible study to a book study." In the Kingdom Ministry October 2008 p. 1 the WTS finally quietly changed the Congregation BOOK Study to Congregation BIBLE Study "“Commencing January 1, 2009, the Congregation Book Study will be held at the same time as the Theocratic Ministry School and the Service Meeting. The name of the Congregation Book Study will be changed to Congregation Bible Study.” -

How does the Watchtower Society find Deaf People in the community?
by blondie ini saw this article online today from a woman concerned about conversion tactics used by religious groups, specifically jehovah's witnesses, to find deaf people to convert.
it made me go back and see what the wts uses.. https ://limpingchicken.com/2025/06/12/rebecca-a-withey-concerns-about-deaf-people-being-targeted-by-religious-groups/.
deaf in wts.

careful, that is true. I am known to the deaf community, once more hearing-impaired, but hear better now, but remember my old friends. But the WTS tactics turned me off.

Juneteenth being celebrated by JWs
by Anony Mous inso today i saw a group of jws i know, we were sitting down to eat at a public place and i guess they (mom and daughter) were performing at an event with their sports team… for juneteenth.. they (the entire team) happened to sit next to us for some fast food and i recognized them and said hi, hoping to make them uncomfortable.
they actually said hi and introduced themselves to my family, i’ve seen them before (they go to the same school as one of my kids) and they usually ignore me.
i know for a fact they and their family still goes, the family patriarch is an elder etc.

I know that behind the scenes jws have many ways to tell themselves it is okay to celebrate despite WTS official positions on them...shows that jws are only concerned about getting "caught" by humans not their god.
ijwfq 59 (frequently asked questions) direct link to WOL: don't click if it will trigger you: https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/502019300#h=43:0-47:358
Or reasoning from the scriptures book:
What is the origin of the practice of setting aside a day to honor mothers?
The Encyclopædia Britannica says: “A festival derived from the custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Formal mother worship, with ceremonies to Cybele, or Rhea, the Great Mother of the Gods, were performed on the Ides of March throughout Asia Minor.”—(1959), Vol. 15, p. 849.
This article is fairly recent and lists holidays that are also non-religious of the ones not to celebrate (just reporting, not supporting)

The WTS doesn't want people to find out about their secret rituals. :)

Reddit thread Warning young JWs that ‘Spiritual Goals’ are Not a Career!
by LongHairGal inas somebody who worked full-time when i was in the witness religion, this topic naturally caught my eye.. many of the responses are heartfelt.
there are about 90 at this point.
from what i read so far.. many are people who woke up before they got old but even these are resentful over their life being derailed with wasted time pursuing spiritual goals and having to start over at a later age getting an education/job.. i imagine born-in young jws would be most susceptible to this.. in today’s world, a ‘career’ is something that earns you a living.. as many of the responses there will say: anybody who pursues ‘spiritual goals’ only will end up with wasted time in the end with no money and no retirement plan… i couldn’t agree more.. it would be a shame if this happens to yet more jws..

LHG, I found that this idea about not having a career was applied carefully...saw too many who did not follow this, and were given room to do this (excuses) by the elders. Those who were trying to live up to the written stuff or stuff pushed by other jws (mostly not following the same "advice"") were burned by trying to please humans, and not seeing it was not the same as pleasing their god. I got a good education in high school, learned skills that transferred to several areas of work, and kept getting training through my workplaces. In the WTS language, a career is a job that makes money enough to live on ,not to live in poverty. I found the ones that made these "suggestions" were well set financially, or women whose husbands had very, very good jobs and they could just prance around. When they encouraged me, I would always ask, why aren't you pioneering...they would say I have children, I would point out pioneers that had children and managed to do so...perhaps they could give them some tips. People like that stopped "encouraging" me.

Am I a Return Visit?
by NotFormer inwell, i'm still processing this one.
saturday morning just gone.
my wife says: "there's a man in a suit at the door!
-

Not Former, amazing experience. Yes, they do keep lists of "aggressive" people. "Anyway, he said he'd be back in two weeks, so I suppose that I'm officially a "return visit"? I did warn him about my mild form of bipolar disorder and that I couldn't guarantee that I'd be the same friendly chap next time. That's when it emerged that one of the ladies from a previous visit had apparently said something about me being aggressive and argumentative. So it seems that they do keep some sort of record about what the households are like, if only a mental note. I'm wondering if the kindly old auxiliary pioneer drew the short straw and got to knock on my door."
