RE: Busted by Wife (thanks to all for your help)
by Big Jim ini really do appreciate all the advice that i received from you all on this matter.. i even appreciate the ones who gave critical advice and downed smoking.. i took all advice that was given and have resolved the problem with your help.. here is where i am at with the issue now; i have been with my wife for almost twenty years now and we have always had a very strong and good relationship especially when it comes to communication.
well to her i betrayed that special bond by not telling her i was smoking.
so in her mind she figured if i would hide this from her what else could or would i hide from her.. so after digesting all the good advice that i have received from you all, i had a long heart to heart talk with her and reasured her that even though i am no longer a witness that i would never do anything to destroy the family that i love.

Or if you have your own copy:

Studies In The Scriptures, Vol 7, The Finished Mystery, from page 128: "No doubt Satan believed the Millennial Kingdom was due to be setup in 1915... Be that as it may, there is evidence that the establishment of the Kingdom in Palestine will probably be in 1925, ten years later than we once calculated."
"Some of the Scriptures, which, when understood in their connections and significance, prove that the Lord's Second Advent occurred in the fall of 1874 are as follows:" (This statement is followed by a list of 88 Bible verses which are offered as proof that Christ came in 1874.) - 1917 book, The Finished Mystery p. 68
"the awakening of the sleeping saints in the Spring of 1878. ... The awakening of the sleeping saints, A. D. 1878, was just half way (three and one-half years each way) between the beginning of the Times of Restitution in 1874 and the close of the High Calling in 1881." - 1917 book The Finished Mystery p. 64
"Ezek. 5:2, 12, 16, 17, relate to features of the destruction of literal Jerusalem in 606 B. C. and 70-73 A. D. and of Christendom in 1914 to 1918 A. D." - 1917 book, The Finished Mystery, p. 398
"The trouble is due to the dawning of the Day of Christ, the Millennium. It is the Day of Vengeance, which began in the world war of 1914 and which will break like a furious morning storm in 1918." - 1917 book, The Finished Mystery, p. 404

Not exactly what you wanted but related:
After Russell's death in 1916, Joseph F. Rutherford became president of the Society. In 1917 he published The Finished Mystery in which he made some bold predictions of his own regarding the years 1918 and 1920. These predictions also failed to materialize. However when a new edition of the book was published in 1926, the offending statements were modified so as to cover up the false prediction:
The Finished Mystery 1917 Edition
"Also in the year 1918, when God destroys the churches and the church members by millions it shall be that any that escape shall come to the works of Pastor Russell to learn the meaning of the downfall of "Christianity."
"16:20. And every island fled away. Even the republics will disappear in the fall of 1920."
"And the mountains were not found. Every kingdom of the earth will pass away, be swallowed up in anarchy." -page 485 (A-11)
"The three days in which Pharaoh's host pursued the Israelites into the wilderness represent the three years from 1917 to 1920 at which time all of Pharaoh's messengers will be swallowed up in the sea of angry humanity. The wheels will come off their chariots - organizations." -page 258
(A-11)The Finished Mystery 1926 Edition
"Also in the year 1918, when God begins to destroythe churches and the church members by millions it shall be that any that escape shall come to the works of Pastor Russell to learn the meaning of the downfall of "Christianity."
"16:20. And every island fled away. Even the republics will disappear in the time of anarchy."
"And the mountains were not found. Every kingdom of the earth will pass away, be swallowed up in anarchy." -page 485 (A-11)
"The three days in which Pharaoh's host pursued the Israelites into the wilderness represent the three years preceding the time of anarchy at which time all of Pharaoh's messengers will be swallowed up in the sea of angry humanity. The wheels will come off their chariots - organizations." -page 258

[Not on 1993/1995 CD-ROMs]
[Regarding Job 40:15 to 41:34, where "leviathan" is interpreted as a train locomotive]
Thou wilt lengthen out leviathan (the locomotive) with a hook (automatic coupler) or with a snare (coupling-link) to drop down. Wilt thou not place a ring (piston) in his nostrils (cylinders) or pierce through his cheeks (piston-ends) with a staff (piston rod)? Will he make repeated supplications unto thee (to get off the track)? Or will he utter soft tones unto thee (when he screeches with the whistle)? ... Wilt thou play with him as with a bird (make him whistle at will)? Or wilt thou bind (enslave) him for thy maidens (so that you can take them to a picnic or convention)? Companies (of stockholders) will feast upon him (his earnings).. [Emphasis added] -

Yes, the sisters still role play even in the newly revised TMS. Now they have 29 settings provided and they have to use them all at least once before going onto a new one. If the sisters didn't role play, it would be considered teaching from the platform and that is not allowed...
The TMS was developed to produce public speakers not to develop preaching skills. Since sisters cannot be public speakers, they did not have to be part of the school. They were blessed :) to be able to attend.

Honest question for active JW's.
by nicolaou incould you explain in a simple and concise way the differences between the 'faithful and discreet slave', the 'remnant', the 'anointed' and the 'governing body' as they exist at present?.
there's a reason for asking but we'll get to that later.. .

I just want to make clear that the words above are from the WT publications and do not necessarily mean that I understand any of it.
Of course, there would be no input from female anointed here on earth because women cannot teach.
Supposedly, no individual member of the anointed receives input from Jehovah according to the Bible. They must function as a group and supposedly the GB "represents" the anointed/remnant/FDS/chosen ones....
Those are good questions. The GB decisions do not have to be unanimous...only a 2/3 majority although...
Acts 15:23-29
“The apostles and the older men, brothers, to those brothers in Antioch and Syria and Ci·li'cia who are from the nations: Greetings! 24 Since we have heard that some from among us have caused YOU trouble with speeches, trying to subvert YOUR souls, although we did not give them any instructions, 25 we have come to a unanimous accord and have favored choosing men to send to YOU together with our loved ones, Bar'na·bas and Paul, 26 men that have delivered up their souls for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We are therefore dispatching Judas and Silas, that they also may report the same things by word. 28 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”This is said regarding the body of elders in the congregation
*** w77 3/1 156-7 Congregation Elders-"Preside in a Fine Way"! ***
If “unanimous accord” is not possible in a body of elders, one with a different view should not take exception to what has been decided by showing a spirit of animosity. He will want to continue to “work hard” with the whole body. The congregation will thus retain confidence in them, knowing that all are working in unity. In the end each Christian must study the Bible and make sure whatever they live by is in the Bible.

Well, at first there were 2, then there were 3, then there were five (by 1945).
b]History of the Weekly Meetings
Before 1922, it seems only 2 meetings were in place: the (Congregation Book Study) Dawn Circles and the Cottage Meetings (later changed to Service Meeting).
After 1922, the Watch Tower study was added, for a total of 3 meetings.
In 1943 the Theocratic Ministry School was added for 4 meetings.
In 1945 the Public Talk was added for a total of 5 meetings.
I’m a little hazy about the meetings before 1922.
1895--Congregation Book Study--“Dawn Circles”
After some of the volumes of Millennial Dawn had been published, these began to be used as a basis for study. In 1895 the study groups came to be known as Dawn Circles for Bible Study held on Friday evenings. Extracts from Brother Russell’s books were read aloud, and when persons had comments or questions, they raised their hands.” Brother Russell recommended that at such studies participants make use of a variety of translations of the Scriptures, marginal references in the Bible, and Bible concordances. The studies were often held with groups of moderate size, in a private home, on an evening convenient to the group.1922--Watchtower Study
Group studies of The Watch Tower were first organized in 1922.
Questions were printed as an aid to study.1922—Service Meeting (midweek Prayer, Praise, and Testimony Meeting or Cottage Meetings)
Prior to 1922, Jehovah’s servants customarily gathered for a midweek Prayer, Praise, and Testimony Meeting. It was an occasion for singing, giving testimonies, and engaging in prayer. But with the increased emphasis on house-to-house Kingdom proclamation, this gathering developed into the Service Meeting, which stresses the preaching work. Of particular help was the Bulletin, which contained field service instructions and “canvasses,” or testimonies, that could be used in the ministry. Today, Our Kingdom Ministry provides similar assistance, as well as guidance for weekly “Meetings to Help Us Make Disciples.”April 17-18, 1943--Theocratic Ministry School
To set this new program into operation the Society arranged for the “Call to Action” Assembly April 17 and 18, 1943. Released was a new textbook Course in Theocratic Ministry. These meetings were held for an hour each week following one of their other weekly congregational meetings such as the service meeting.January 1945--Public Talks
In January 1945 a worldwide public speaking campaign was inaugurated. Each speaker prepared his own discourse, but the Watch Tower Society ensured uniformity of presentation[/b] by selecting the subjects and furnishing one-page outlines for these hour talks. And so it grew.

I hope I didn't offend you SixofNine. I am just reporting what's in the KM. I don't understand your comment. I'm not that insightful and I don't mean this in the wrong way. Look under obtuse in the dictionary and you will see me. I was surprised of the subtle changes and the fact that it is not stated directly that an applicant "must" be a regular pioneer. Of course, it is strongly implied.
I was surprised to see that the lower limit was 17 at one time too.
So I hope I didn't offend you. Sorry if I did.
