October 7 the day after the annual meeting October 6, 2001...
Silverdome in Michigan and
Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego
both have WTS scheduled for a meeting
Any others?
question.
my mother told my husband that there is to be a 'special meeting' in october at the local sports arena (same place as dc's are held here) and that "only publishers are allowed to attend" that they will get "special cards" for admission from their local congregation and have to hand them in to get into the building.
i have no idea if this has anything to do with the "annual meeting" they always have (isn't that generally in october?

heres something i've always wondered ,why do jw's insist that you have to say amen to conclued a prayer?.
of all the prayers in the bible i can't recall one ending in amen (correct me if i'm wrong).. anyway amen means "so be it" so why not say "so be it" at the end of your prayer or words to that effect?.
most of the prayers in the bible just end with nothing tagged on to the end.. so were does this come from?.
You don't have to close your eyes...
You don't have to be in any special position...
You don't have to be in any special building...
You don't have to pray over each mouthful of food...
You don't have to say the word "amen" but any words indicating agreement with what had been said; you don't have to say amen at all since there is nothing in the Bible that says you must...it is up to you, do you desire to or feel impelled to.
Amen can be said to yourself (inaudibly)...it does not need to be shouted from the rooftops
Does amen need to be said at the end of your personal prayer...why, it you said it, don't you agree with it?
Just be respectful (I wouldn't be eating a sandwich while I'm praying)
If someone has been giving you a lot of "rules" about prayer, then I would said they are a graduate of Pharisee school.
Remember how they Pharisees were worried about the 12 disciples not washing up properly in a ceremonial way? Wash up to your elbows and let it drip down.....
Just don't repeat prayers by rote or read them from a prayer book
Address to God through Jesus
Can be any length, but consider the audience if praying for others, don't pray so long mold grows on the food at dinner
Watch out for the Pharisees
what will happen the day after?.
i have a recent personal experience from "field service" that may shed a little light on this subject.. first, i do believe that many of my "bros and sises" will see this.
they are all dateline watchers, and just knowing their personalities, if they are able, they will watch.. will they talk about it amongst themselves?
Just a comment, I have had some contact with Lutheran churches where this pops up...the situations I have been involved in, the victims and their families did not go to the police...except in one case where a law enforcement person was the accused molester (who is now in prison). The others in the churches could not believe that such a "nice" person could be molesting their own children or the children of others...
It is a function of this type of crime that the molesters make sure they are well thought of and trusted in the religious community. If those in the JW congregations find it hard to believe...it is more a function of the psychology of the crime than that JWs are the only ones who put their heads in the sand.
The important thing is to educate all people as to the nature of child molesters and what to do when uncovering such a crime. It takes courage, more courage than most people have ever had to exhibit in their lifetime or should have to. The victims and the family members that support them need all the support they can get. Most child molesters are very intelligent and have educated themselves to their rights under the law. Child molesters can be judges, police, lawyers, doctors, clergy, teachers, important business people, rich people...people that you would not readily expect to be such despicable criminals.
The important thing is to protect the children, above and beyond and personal desire for revenge. I speak from experience...when I stopped trying to punish my abuser and started educating parents/adults and children to protect themselves and to help abusers without "power" to find courage, I felt I had accomplished more than if I had taken a gun and put a bullet through the head of my abuser.
Pardon my soapbox.
did you realise that joe ratherflawed spoke in a "fatherly tone"?
well, that's what the july 15 issue of the watchtower says.. in a section obviously intended to boost the reputation of jfr in the minds of modern-day witnesses, the skilful use of adjectives conjures up a picture of kind benevolence.. in just 4 paragraphs, expressions used are "largest convention", "listened intently", "fatherly tone", "children rose as one body", "burst of applause", "prolonged applause", "moving talk", "long line", "gift copy", "moved the audience to tears", "memorable assembly".. now try reading these four paragraphs without the adjectives.
they weren't essential to the story but they sure help to tug at the heartstrings.. it reminds me of the adulation of despots like mao tse tung and stalin who were written about during their regimes in similar language to this article.. note this quote in this section from an "eyewitness": "only a heart of stone would not be moved at the spectacle of youth [showing] complete trust and faith in their god, jehovah".
MA, that might be true...I think Malcolm might have been in his early 20's when JFR became President in 1918. But he certainly set a bad example as to living apart from his wife...the brothers I know of left Bethel to take care of their wives when their wives became too ill to stay there...
Malcolm's DOB 11/10/1892 per Social Security Death List
makes him 26 in 1918

Rutherford and his wife, Mary, lived separate lives, his in NYC and at Beth Sarim in California, and she with her son, Malcolm, in California....even when JFR was in California, Rutherford and his wife did not live together. Mary and Malcolm are now deceased. As far as I know, Mary and JFRutherford were never divorced although separated...she died a faithful witness per the Proclaimers book. It is amazing that nothing of this was even mentioned in the publications (that I know of) until the Proclaimers book which surprised me. I have contacts back to the 1920's as far as the history of JWs. The elders are so strict about marital separations now for the ordinary folk at the KH. JFR's place was with his wife as her spiritual head...God could have found someone else to run the WTS, but only he, as her husband, could be her spiritual head....sounds like he fell down in the husband and father responsibilities.
anyone got any good information as to why dubs dont like beards?
in 18 years, i have yet to understand why.
if its brought up tonight by anyone, what should i say?
Actually, it was so bad, Jesus wasn't pictured with a beard until around 1968 or 1969. Beards = beatniks = hippies = terrorists...
i asked my gf who is a jw but not an active one if she has ever read coc and she tells me she has and that his book was mostly lies about the organization and that's the reason he left was because he was tempted by a hooker and ended up sleeping with her.
he told the elders what he did because he was looking for help and he ended up getting df.
later he found out he ended up contract hiv.
Sounds frustrating...what about all the media articles favorable to the JWs...did Satan lose his hold on the media then? Either Jehovah is in charge of the media or Satan is...or do they take turns? Or is neither? Whatever...
When a situation is emotionally charged....no proof no matter how comprehensive or accurate will convince that person at that time. They have to step into the "proof" and even that does not work.
"The Emperor's New Clothes" might be a good story to read.
has an aircate been set for the nbc dateline piece on jw child abuse yet?
if so, when is it?
I thought it was February 30th.
this is a bit lengthy, but is a very big issue with me, and that is the issue of women's rights.
i do agree with women allowing their husbands to make a final decision, being on how women think with their hearts and men think with their heads, making choices often times more logical ones.
but, the husband according to god is supposed to love his wife as his own flesh.
I think women and men are equally capable of developing good organizational skills...it's your background and training and interest that determines what you can do with it.
Why are women held back...
Well, in the Bible Eve supposedly was the first woman who took some initiative....and women have been punished ever since.

08-28-2001 01:18:35 pm northfield laboratories submits biologics license application to fda for approval of its blood substitute, polyheme(tm) .
evanston, ill. aug. 28 /prnewswire/ -- northfield laboratories inc.. (nasdaq: nfld), a leading developer of an oxygen-carrying blood substitute, today reported that it has submitted a biologics license application (bla) to the food and drug administration (fda) seeking approval to market its patented blood substitute product, polyheme, as an ideal oxygen-carrying resuscitative fluid for use in the treatment of urgent, life-threatening blood loss.. "the submission of the bla for polyheme is a significant milestone for.
The world is full of inconsistencies, even among JWs...I agree...if you use products that are made from blood...everyone physically able to give blood should do so...as well as anyone who would take blood if necessary in the future. Obviously, many people who are not JWs are also being inconsistent. The blood issue is very emotional...just remember who makes the policy is not the the JW hemophiliac or their family. If change is desired, the people with the power to make changes need to be convinced.
