Because for many years they have been told that they are part of a group that will never die but will live right into the new world. Those who are growing old and dying are surprised that the end has not come yet. They thought they would never experience the sting of death.

Why are JWs scared of death?
by NikL ini have been thinking a lot lately about death.
this is not surprising considering the turn of events on the 11th.. i have been re-awakened to the transient nature of human life and how it can go in the blink of an eye.
as the bible says life is vanity and a striving for the wind.. with all of the talk about world war 3 and how dangerous this world has become, i have been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster this past week.. the fear of dying is a normal and basic emotion.

Tick list for establishing whether a cult or not..
by Deacon in1/.milieu control: control of the group environment and communication .
2/.manipulation: leaders are perceived as being chosen by god, history or some supernatural force.
salvation can only be attained through the cult .

It would be nice to see quotes from various JW publications that support these cult qualities. Are there other cult quality lists?

proplog2, I too wondered why JWs have never studied that book...a Bahai friend was impressed by the information on the Bahais and felt it was fair and accurate.
Here are some larger articles and publications on Islam and the Quran over the years. The "Mankind's Search for God" and the brochure should still be available through KH literature sources or probably on Ebay or other used book sites.

You've Got To Be Carefully Taught
You've got to be taught to hate and fear
You've got to be taught from year to year
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught. You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made
And people whose skin is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught.You've got to be taught before it's too late;
Before you are 6 or 7 or 8 !
To hate all the people your relatives hate.
You've got to be carefully taught.....
You've got to be carefully taught.written by Hammerstein; from "South Pacific"

I can remember a brother saying that when he went to NewBoy school that they even instructed you on how to "flush thoroughly."
Matthew 23
25
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.26
Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.27
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.28
In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. -

BRITISH APOSTASY!

the british brothers are apostate.
i tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but i can no longer cover for them anymore.

Hi silentlambs,
I know this is satire but it shows that the WTS is guided by legalities and not morality. I guess it's because the UK is united with one set of laws for all its citizens...where the US with its states rights mentality can have different laws in 2 states for the same crime. The WTS seems to have more fear of the governnment than God. I admire your efforts to live by your Bible-trained conscience as well as your wife and your other helpers. The evidence is gathering and I am definitely one person who will be watching when the manure hit the fan.

It seems my educated guess is at least partially true...the mystery is due to the Gilead graduation...I once shook the hand of someone who went to one....

My emotional well-being is fine....I have dealt with my pain a long time ago... as to my being easily offended...that is a subjective opinion. If I was easily offended, I wouldn't still be here based on some of the colorful vocabulary I have seen just on the titles.
I'm not a beginner in fighting child abuse. There are good people here putting a lot on the line to gather the FACTS to fight child abuse, where they have the facts, in the JW congregations. It wouldn't be reasonable to think that they could do anything about the child molester in the Mormon church.
When the WTS is wrong, they think only God can correct them (as if he is going to come down here...then we should all watch out). Even if the individual is right, he/she is wrong to point it out to them. Being a woman, I know what it is like to point out to a male that he is wrong...men in my experience, that is, not making any personal applications here.
I know many have been hurt by the unscriptural words and actions of some of the JWs they have been in contact with. I just worry that the desire to hurt back will cloud the issue of gathering FACTS and presenting them in such a way when it will do the most good for the victims and that improvements will be made regardless of the motivation (monetary).
Believe me if I were easily offended, the first five minutes would have sent me flying....really, it is only silentlambs posting here that bring me back. There is a man (and his wife) that has risked it all for others.

Thanks Andi for the boot out the door. I would suggest putting a lock on this board and requesting a password so that only "approved" people can post. Being a victim myself, it disturbs me to see what seems to be delight on the part of some that there are JW child molesters. If you removed every JW child molester from the scene, that doesn't mean children would be safe or that even a large part would be safe...nor would it mean children within the JW organization would be safe...why not, because child molesters do not choose their victims based on religious background but on availability. JWs aren't any more likely to be molesters than any other part of the population. My abuser was not a JW...but I have worked with people who have been abused by JWs. My experience has been, the pain is the same...to be violated by someone you trust and find little support in your family or community.
It seems, Andi, you have made a judgment of me with little information. I have a reason and a right to be here just like you. If you don't like what I write...don't read it...that's what seems to be the direction about offensive comments here.
I'm sorry you were offended...that wasn't my goal.
