Trump Derangement Syndrome Is Alive and Well
by minimus ini was on facebook and a person i have known for a long time posted how trump is mentally ill and is truly a psychopath.
a couple of her friends chimed in when i suggested that perhaps the fb friend was really the psychopath.
a couple of her friends began to defend her but i was surprised by how many people defended the president!

Wasn't Bolton selected in April 2018? What did President Trump say about Bolton's selection and qualifications then? I have searched by can only find items about recent events.

waton, I was thinking the same thing
"Listener. : and not to forget that this time in the presence of unbaptized persons in counted as "service time", by both parents, as part of the 10 minutes + that every human on this planet receives each year."
jw parents are only allowed to count 4 hours each month (4 hrs/dad; 4 hrs/mom). If there are now 2 trips roundtrip to the KH each week, 4 one-way trips; 4 weeks x 4 = 16 trips x time it takes to go one-way to the KH, (10 minutes is quite short let's make it 20 minutes), 16 x 20 minutes =320 minutes divided by 60 = 5+ hours. Thus the parents don't have to have a real study at all with their children, but can only count 4 of the 5 hours.
I can see lots of ways of expanding this time. In my observation and those of the elders, maybe 10% of the families have a formal study with their children.
Singing would be a win win situation.

Abuse reporting law passes Victoria, Australia Parliament
by AndersonsInfo inhttps://7news.com.au/politics/abuse-reporting-law-passes-vic-parliament-c-445627?utm_campaign=share-icons&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&tid=1568152669571&fbclid=iwar2mvjbkt-nlu3tx-rmifxynagtcec1ad8lm4zcn2-f3zloqpd8xb1jamsi.
victorian parliament has passed laws making it mandatory for priests to report child abuse, including when it is revealed to them during confession.. a bill introduced by the state labor government passed the upper house on tuesday after last week getting a green light from the legislative assembly, with opposition support.. "today we've made victoria a safer place for children.
the special treatment for churches has ended and child abuse must be reported," child protection minister luke donnellan said in a statement....

Yay, Barbara. Another significant step along the way in helping protect children from being abused by their so-called religious protectors.
Thanks for all your hard work and all the others who have helped along the way. This is not the end of the road but a reason to double down on these efforts.

The impact and consequences of being born into the jehovahs witness cult.
by RayoFlight2014 inhi from new south wales australia.
fyi , it's tuesday 10th september 2:36am here.. i am categorically not going to blame the cult for every poor choice.
i am conscious of the fact that i was at a genetically determined disadvantage academically; i was never going to be outstanding in my achievements, no matter how hard i tried.

I come from a different category, born into family with only one jw parent, mother. (if the only jw is the father, that has its own dynamics depending on how much the non-jw father exercises or is allowed to exercise his head of the household authority).
In my case, I lived in a limbo like status. Not good enough for the KH crowd, my father's worldliness might be catching; but viewed with suspicion by non-jws hoping especially when my mother went into full conversion mode. They were confused when they saw here doing things that they knew were not allowed by the WTS.
If we wanted to do something not jw-approved, we would just say my father said we had to do it. As long as it was not a df'ing issue the KH elders would back off. (I know some elders would still try to interfere, but not the ones who knew my father).
I was in a situation that I had little control over. When I started getting some control over things, I made my move. I had plenty non-jw contacts in school, the neighbors, father's friends and workmates, so I had escapes and support. I have always been on the border, PIMO, for a long time before I realized that I should become POMO.
Family is not all the tv happy happy scenario for non-jws. There would have been no guarantee that if neither of my parents had been jws that things would have been better. Actually, I think it would have been much worse; at least we had time away from our father who was not a nice man at all to his children.

New Armageddon date?
by neat blue dog inlooking at the most recent wt the study article focuses on the jubilees.
the made a separate box in the article to highlight the math behind jubilees, and i'm wondering if they're trying to get people thinking and stir up the pot without actually making a false prophecy.
for instance: jubilees happened every 7 times 7 years.

Yes, with the scriptures and a little imagination you can validate any so-called prophetic date. Before 1879 many dates were used, the WTS just borrowed them or fused 2 or more together.

The myth, lie that Christendom has hid Gods name, all of these Centuries.
by smiddy3 init has been well documented that jehovah`s witnesses have long claimed that christendom has hidden the name of god for centuries.. and that they alone have restored that name in the last century,.
making it known in all of the earth for a witness.. nothing could be further from the truth .. 1.justus martinus a 13th century spanish monk took the four hebrew letters of the tetragrammaton for gods name and added vowels to those consonants and came up with hebrew letters to english jhvh and the vowels he added e o a. which amounted to jehovah ,remember this was in the thirteenth century by a spanish catholic monk.. 2.this name persisted throughout the centuries to this day ,in many so of christendoms writings etc,etc.. 3.churches of christendoms religions throughout the world have the name jehovah in stone on them engraved since that 13th century .
4.in the 1970`s if i remember correctly their was an international convention held around the world in which the jw`s released a publication of the conventions and the churches of christendom to the delegates showing these churches many of which had the name jehovah engraved in stone on them.......centuries old churches.

JeffT, when I was still a jw, I brought up that same thought as a question to several jws. How could god protect the bible but not his name.

After 45 years as a jw in several congregations throughout the US and Europe, I never saw any jws sing as they traveled in the car. Most jws are very poor singers due to lack of real effort, just singing at meetings.
I think most of the jws I knew that are still alive, are chuckling inward when they saw that picture.

What did Charles Taze Russell and the Bible Students believe?
by Pallbearer ini know that present-day jehovah's witnesses believe that 144,000 are to go to heaven and rule alongside jesus, and that the survivors of armageddon along with those who will be resurrected are to live on earth with the prospect of living here forever.. questions:.
> what did pastor russell and the bible students originally believe about the earth?.
> did they believe that the earth would always exist and that it would become a paradise?.

I would look at current Bible Student websites.

fulano, in the US, a person's car is their castle, their status is judged by the cars they own. It carries over into the congregations here. So it is a no-no although the 2-door restriction is a unofficial restriction that varies from congregation to congregation. I knew pioneers that had 2-door cars because they are less expensive and that was all they could afford. One of my cousins had a car that was valued for its speed. No one said anything in this are, they were impressed by the good price he got it at.
