  i like listening to mozart.. i have noticed the site says it has been visited 181,232,000 plus times.. it has received 51,500 plus comments.. their much bragged about jw.org site has received hm visits?

  and comments of course?

  comments are denied... says a great deal about the call and power of blessed music..

  i saw this mentioned on reddit but no link - i found the article form this weeks bible study..... in the “congregation bible study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and i quote: “only jehovah god and his son can receive someone into the heavenly kingdom or the paradise on earth under that kingdom.

  we should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting kingdom interests”.

  You don't have to give any details, but I'm willing to say that if your mum has known anyone close to her that was sexually abused as a child in the WTS, and had seen this person/parents told by the WTS/representatives that they were lying, that even if it were true, it is over now and they should forgive to protect the reputation of the WTS (or else), she might finally realize that she cannot be part of an "organization" that allows abuse and protects the abuser.

  Sometimes it is not enough to see someone brutally slapped, but when you (or someone you love very much) are slapped brutally, those that see or experience it themselves, have two choices, to protect that person and take a chance that retribution will come on them or to protect themselves. Evidently, your mum hasn't reached that decision point.

  Self-protection is a very deep response to danger in humans. The willingness to sacrifice yourself for others, not so much.

  just heard from a friend who keeps in touch with the jw's.

  a person who has been studying found out some things on line about the witnesses and decided to not get baptized and stopped attending the meetings.

  she lives with a witness.

  In the past up till 1988, an unbaptized publisher could be treated as if df'd if they did something they could be df'd for as a baptized jw. But the WTS changed that policy. That only baptized jws could be df'd.

  But that doesn't mean the unbaptized person would not be considered bad association. But this person was never baptized or considered an unbaptized publisher even. But they would still be considered not a jw and thus be considered bad association. jws are not encouraged to live with or get involved socially with non-jws....

  38 What should be done when unbaptized publishers become involved in serious wrongdoing? Since they are not baptized members of the congregation, they cannot be formally disfellowshipped. However, they may not fully understand the Bible’s standards, and kind counsel may help them to make “straight paths” for their feet.​—Heb. 12:13.

  39 If an unbaptized wrongdoer is unrepentant after two elders have met with him and have tried to help him, then it is necessary to inform the congregation. A brief announcement is made, stating: “[Name of person] is no longer recognized as an unbaptized publisher.” The congregation will then view the wrongdoer as a person of the world. Although the offender is not disfellowshipped, Christians exercise caution with regard to any association with him. (1 Cor. 15:33) No field service reports would be accepted from him.

  a close-by young brother, actually your basic, garden-variety, sexually-repressed, 40-year old virgin in the congregation has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.

  i've known this guy since he was a kid and he has always been strange, in a nerdy kind of way.

  he always wants to sound knowledgeable and wise when he comments at meetings, but i think he is bi-polar and depressed about who he is in life.

  zeb, was that a youtube site playing one of Mozart pieces? I am not surprised by the number of visits to a site like that. Instantly, I have found many of my favorite pieces on youtube, and filed them in a folder by composer. Then whenever I need an emotional pickup, I pick about 10 and listen to them as I go about my daily chores, to find restful sleep, to count my blessings, and to realize there is beauty in the world.

  I know that some people speak from what they have read, not necessarily having been a victim of child sexual abuse (by a parent no less) or closely known someone who has been. Besides my own experience, I worked in law enforcement for 8 years and processed all the arrests of pedophiles in my jurisdiction. I have heard all the stories of their past and how that led to them abusing child(ren). I can also tell you that 3/4 of those who were abused, do not go on to being abusers themselves. Everyone has a sob story, but in my opinion, this kind of abuse is even worse than literal murder. In the case of that kind of murder, you are dead, not living on in the pain of death day after day. Those that sexually abuse children, even their own children, have murdered the soul, the psyche, the sense of self, that can be pieced together somewhat, but can never be made whole again.

  Yes, stillin, taking the lead but the elders are not "leaders." Yet the WTS has said that the elders are shepherds of the flock.

  elders = shepherds

  Therefore, the shepherd’s joy is in the lead position, paying attention to all the congregation of God, beckoning them to ‘become imitators of him, even as he is of Christ.’—1 Cor. 11:1.

  tiki, you are right, the prisons I have visited had metal detectors, and for some family members and friends, maybe even more than that, if on a watch list for contraband. Maybe some jws violated that requirement even by accident, putting them on the list.
