Rattigan350, It doesn't matter to you obviously. But then we are all individuals. My grandparents were Bible Students then (later jws in 1931) and saw the changes and left. It is not remembered much by jws today, but Rutherford's thinking like that moved them to leave the WTS. That is a reality. It shows that the WTS has been changing it's beliefs from the very beginning of that organization. I am merely reporting not supporting the WTS teachings. I see similarities today.

144,000 + 1 kings
by moomanchu ini wonder why so many kings are needed for the millennial reign?
the almighty governing body says 24,000,000,000 people combined from those resurrected and the survivors of the big 'a' could make it into paradise.
that gives you 1 king for every 166,665 persons.

G.B. via NWT hijacks the kingdom for themselves!

"Are you already satisfied? Are you already rich? Have you begun ruling as kings without us? I really wish that you had begun ruling as kings, so that we also might rule with you as kings." 1 Corinthians 4:8 (WT 2008 1/15 p. 22) Perhaps these GB men should read the WTS own comments: "
First-century Christians were declared righteous and anointed with holy spirit for the purpose of enabling them to receive their heavenly inheritance. Their anointing did not elevate them to kingship over fellow anointed Christians while still on earth. Evidently, some early Christians lost sight of that fact and began seeking undue prominence among their brothers in the congregation. As a result, Paul was moved to ask: “You men already have your fill, do you? You are rich already, are you? You have begun ruling as kings without us, have you? And I wish indeed that you had begun ruling as kings, that we also might rule with you as kings.” (1 Cor. 4:8)

Yah, I hear you. Especially if its your children. :) Maybe, I would expect the extra people outside your family should help pay for gas, or look elsewhere for a ride, unless they really don't have the funds.

St. George
Here in the UK we need a pass to display on the car when we attend Circuit Assemblies at Hayes Bridge. It is obtained from a nominated elder and it is a requirement that you have a full complement of passengers
Is a charge associated with this pass? How many people per vehicle? How are more people assigned to vehicle if you have vehicle that holds 6 and only 4 people in your family? Is it first come first served when it comes to the parking spots nearest the building or do disabled people have preference, marked spots for disabled only? How are non-jws handled, same requirement, pass, "full" vehicle?

Who is "the Christ" in 1927 per Rutherford
by blondie inn 1926, rutherford reinterpreted the faithful slave from a single person to a group of people.
thus the interpretation had come full circle, but this time the servant included jesus as well as the 144,000. so "the christ" is jesus alone, jesus and member of his body collectively as one, or applied only to the members of the body of christ yet on earth.
three different things.... "seeing then that the servant of jehovah is the christ, and that the christ is composed of jesus and the faithful members of his body, we find it proper to apply the term "servant" to jesus christ alone or to jesus christ and the members of his body collectively as one; and sometimes it is applied only to the members of the body of christ yet on earth.

https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/faithful-discreet-slave-changes.php
Timeline of who was the faithful and wise servant: Is it apparent that the faithful slave is the Governing Body? No, as shown by Watchtower changing its understanding of the parable several times.
Originally, Russell said the Slave was an illustration of the entire body of Christ, the little flock of 144,000 heavenly rulers.
""Who then is that faithful and wise servant whom his Lord hath made ruler over his household," to give them meat in due season? Is it not that "little flock" of consecrated servants who are faithfully carrying out their consecration vows - the body of Christ - and is not the whole body individually and collectively, giving the meat in due season to the household of faith - the great company of believers?" Zion's Watch Tower 1881 Oct/Nov p.5
Later, the slave was used to refer to a single person, Pastor Russell. (This interpretation was originally suggested by Russell's wife in a letter dated 1895. See Zion's Watch Tower 1906 Jul 15 pp.215-216 for a reprint of the letter.) Russell was thought to have been appointed as the Slave to direct the domestics (Jesus true followers) immediately prior to the Second Coming. Zion's Watch Tower 1896 Mar 1 pp.47,48
"Thousands of the readers of Pastor Russell's writings believe that he filled the office of "that faithful and wise servant," and that his great work was giving to the Household of Faith meat in due season. His modesty and humility precluded him from openly claiming this title, but he admitted as much in private conversation." Watch Tower 1916 Dec 1 p.356
Russell continued to be considered the Faithful Slave after his death in 1916.
"THE WATCH TOWER unhesitatingly proclaims Brother Russell as "that faithful and wise servant." He delivered the message faithfully, finished his course and has now entered into his reward. Through him the Lord gave to the church the message that is so essential to each one who in this harvest time would win the glorious prize." Watch Tower 1917 Mar 1 p.67
"We believe that all who are now rejoicing in present truth will concede that Brother Russell faithfully filled the office of special servant of tile Lord; and that he was made ruler over all the Lord’s goods." Watch Tower 1923 Mar 1 p.68
With Russell's death, a new interpretation became necessary. In the 1917 leaflet The Parable of the Penny, Rutherford was described as the Steward, replacing Russell.

Characteristics of a Cult - Heaven's Gate
by dropoffyourkeylee inchacteristics of a cult - by my count, wt ticks 9 of the 12 boxes.
last night i watched a really interesting video (link below) put out by an ex-mormon site discussing the heaven's gate cult.
the person interviewed had a unique perspective in that he had firsthand contact with that group, specifically the house they lived in and the aftermath.

https://www.npr.org/2022/09/10/1122089076/is-america-a-democracy-or-a-republic-yes-it-is
Throughout our history we have functioned as both. Put another way, we have utilized characteristics of both. The people decide, but they do so through elected representatives working in pre-established, rule-bound and intentionally balky institutions such as Congress and the courts.
The government seated in Washington, D.C., represents a democratic republic, which governs a federated union of states, each of which in turn has its own democratic-republican government for its jurisdiction.
The relationship between the democratic and republican elements of this equation has been a dynamic and essential part of our history. But it has not always been easy, and in our time the friction between them has become yet another flashpoint in our partisan wars...Republicans, by contrast, have seemed of late to be stressing the role of the republic and its restraint on democracy. Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, an outspoken Republican but hardly an outlier, got considerable attention for saying bluntly on Twitter in October 2020: "We are not a democracy."
Lee then posted online an explanation of what he meant. It said, in part: "Our system is best described as a constitutional republic [where] power is not found in mere majorities, but in carefully balanced power." (just snippets, but reading the whole article carefully shows the difference between the 2 words and how they work together in the US.)
