  Letter of Disassociation to Former Religions / Baptism Questions ?

  this was prompted by some comments in another thread, but since it was somewhat "off" the original topic, i'm posting/asking seperately.... i was born in 1960, and baptized as a infant in a catholic church.

  obviously i have no personal memory of this, and only know, because i was told, and we had a family photo of my parents holding me before the baptismal font while the priest prepared to do the sprinkling.

  i was taken probably no more than 3 times to the catholic church in my early childhood and had no clue as to what was going on.. from the ages of 10 to 12 i attended a methodist sunday school, rarely the actual church service, but sang with the class in an annual christmas presentation in the church.. in the 1980s, studying with jehovah's witnesses, and considering baptism, i was told i had to write a letter to any religious group i had previously been involved with, stating i no longer wished any contact, wanted to be removed from their membership lists and witnessing as to why...(separation from satan's world, false religion, babylon etc.).

  Jhine, I hope you didn't think I said this, I looked back at my post and didn't see that at all.

  God isn't dead.

  She had questions specifically about bible verses that she had asked her pastor about. He did not provide any answers from his religion's viewpoint. I never used any WT publications with her, just from her bible and just asking open-ended viewpoint questions. I did not talk about WTS doctrines, nor did I direct her answer. Her bible study group had similar questions, that is why she wanted them to see the answers from their bible. Most WTS comments are without merit, but they do have some correctly based on the bible. She could see that. I have found that some church members have questions about teachings in their own religion, without a bible basis being provided. I'm glad that is not going on with your church.   6/3/2025 former jehovah's witness sentenced for child sexual assault shaun sheffer, 47, of harmony was found guilty in january of three counts each of rape and indecent assault, including assault of a person less than 13 who had a mental disability.

  Remember using the term BORG to refer to the WTS

  it's interesting that when watchtower is referred to as the borg, it immediately brings to mind the scenes where individuals such as captain piccard are held prisoner within a vast collective hive type prison and unable to leave.

  they are then turned into drones.

  in fact here is how wikipedia explains it.. the borg are a fictional alien group that appear as recurring antagonists in the star trek franchise.

  WT AUGUST 2025: NEW LIGHT ON HAILSTONE MESSAGE : IS IT BIBLICAL OR JUST CONVENIENT?

  so today we are considering, the watchtower's new take on the "hailstone message", and if you don't know what that is , they used to believe that according to revelation 16:21 they would be preaching a hard hitting message during the time of the end.

  now, let's read the verse first from the new world translation: "then great hailstones, each about the weight of a talent, fell from heaven on the people, and the people blasphemed god because of the plague of hail, for the plague was unusually great" now this is their new understanding as it appears from the 3rd paragraph from their new watchtower study edition for august 2025 and their article:when will the preaching work end, has this to say: "our clarified understanding of matthew 24:14 also adjusts our understanding of the hailstonelike message foretold at revelation 16:21. further examination has revealed that the two scriptures complement each other.

  Hope away, these are manuscript talks with fill-in the blanks appropriate for that congregation (just kidding). The speakers are so much less qualified today, can't change the script. Some elders don't prepare before giving a public talk, just think they have already given it, they don't need to prepare. If the WTS changed the script they would freak out. I always felt that was the worst talk to invite non-jws to but a little bit better than the funeral talks.

  don’t know if anybody here has seen the video.. the intended result of this is to obviously scare ‘faders’ out of the shadows.

  now, they are being threatened with loss of association with their loved ones and friends.

  FedUpJW, it wasn't written policy, but a talk was given at one congregation I was at that even married jws could not hold hands or put their arm over the shoulder of the spouse during the meeting. People might get the wrong idea, or make the single people feel bad. Ridiculous I know.
