DOC, yes, they don't have the push of the end is near after 1975, 1995, overlapping generations concepts being shared/ Some of my contemporaries even quit high school before 1975, and then when it didn't come then, they had to go back and get their diploma or a GED to qualify for any kind of paying job.

Know it’s not true but stay anyway
by Elena inhow many of the millions of jws know it’s not true but stay anyway?.
my guess is most jws know it’s not true on a subconscious level to an extent but they don’t want to think about it too much and would never ever voice it out loud.. but this is probably true with all religions around the world?.

HereIam60, I think they needed to make 3 contacts (including doorstep ones) to put it on their time sheet as a bible study and turn in a bible study report (no longer done). As to counting it as considering making contact 3 or more contacts, only one bible study is counted that month with one person (sometimes 2 if husband and wife), and 1 return visit per visit, based on years as a regular pioneer. The counting by parents studying with their changed has changed many times.
Example: One bible student, 3 times before counted as bible study, only one bible study noted on special slip and turned in (to keep track of how many separate individuals, contact info, publication studied...more complicated back then), and a return visit per each contact. Pre-1975, publishers were told that if person not at the kingdom hall after 6 months, to cancel study and move on to find another person who would study. After all the end is close, and can't wait on people for years to even attend one meeting....https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1969364#h=3

Can someone remind me the reason's you could be disfellowshipped?
by SydBarrett inthe only reasons i can remember are smoking, sexual immorality and of course, apostasy.
there must be others but having been out since 1990, i'm drawing a blank.
i was thinking perhaps serious criminal offenses that result in prison, but then i remembered a brother in my congregation in the 1980's who went to prison.

(Just reporting not supporting) As to suing another jw, the WTS does have an exception with this walk-around explanation: WT 1973, 11/15, p. 703-704
Questions From Readers
● Do Paul’s words at 1 Corinthians 6:1-7 mean that under no circumstances should a Christian take to court a case involving a fellow believer?—U.S.A.
Thus, for example, one who defrauded his Christian brother or who failed to provide materially for his wife and children would find himself outside the congregation if he did not repent.—1 Tim. 5:8.
The injured party could thereafter decide whether legal action should be taken in an attempt to force the guilty one, now disfellowshiped, to rectify matters. Of course, the injured party would want to take into consideration whether it would be worth the time and expense as well as whether the congregation could still come into disrepute by bringing to public attention the actions of one of its former members. If the wronged Christian conscientiously felt that God’s name would not be reproached and legal action was definitely needed, he would not necessarily be acting contrary to the spirit of Paul’s counsel if he were to take to court one who was no longer a part of the Christian congregation. Jehovah God has permitted secular authority to serve as his instrument in bringing lawbreakers to justice, and in this case the one wronged would be availing himself of legal help after exhausting the intracongregational means to have the wrong corrected. and here:There may even be times when Christian brothers conscientiously feel that they could go to court with fellow believers. This might be to obtain compensation from an insurance company. In some countries the law may specify that certain matters have to be handled in a court, such as wills that may have to be probated by courts. But this does not create adverse publicity or bring reproach upon the congregation. In handling such legal matters that would not affect the congregation adversely, Christians can be governed by what they consider to be best under the circumstances.

Admonishment to the Governing Body of the Watch Tower Society By - YHWH
by EisMe inadmonishment to the governing body of the watch tower society.
to the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses: you have presented yourselves as god’s appointed messengers, yet nowhere in scripture does god declare your authority as his chosen representatives.
by falsely claiming divine appointment, you have led many into spiritual bondage, deceiving them into believing you alone have the truth.. misuse of donated labor & financial deception.

Sea Breeze, and I remember that many of those baptisms, were children of jws, not people contacted outside the jw group. I remember the then presiding overseer gave a talk at the old service meeting, that he had checked the records of bible studies conducted (when they did that), and found only 4 studies with non jws, one baptized, and that person was df'd in a year.

I don't even see them in my subdivision, ever, and they are not deliberately skipping my house. Have yet to see a cart even downtown. Asked the neighbors around me, and they haven't seen them either even pre-Covid. Not that they were missing it.

WT AUGUST 2025: NEW LIGHT ON HAILSTONE MESSAGE : IS IT BIBLICAL OR JUST CONVENIENT?
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/n_fttvylm-m?si=l44406ohysubkajr.
so today we are considering, the watchtower's new take on the "hailstone message", and if you don't know what that is , they used to believe that according to revelation 16:21 they would be preaching a hard hitting message during the time of the end.
now, let's read the verse first from the new world translation: "then great hailstones, each about the weight of a talent, fell from heaven on the people, and the people blasphemed god because of the plague of hail, for the plague was unusually great" now this is their new understanding as it appears from the 3rd paragraph from their new watchtower study edition for august 2025 and their article:when will the preaching work end, has this to say: "our clarified understanding of matthew 24:14 also adjusts our understanding of the hailstonelike message foretold at revelation 16:21. further examination has revealed that the two scriptures complement each other.

ozziepost, "So how was this “clarified understanding” obtained? In a dream?" I have wondered that too, and brave enough to ask, they would just say, 1) They pray for their god's guidance 2) use the holy-spirit inspired book, the bible, and then pray again after discussion 3) then I would ask, how would they know what the answer was...said that if all on the GB, "voted" for the same thing (we both know all they really needed is a 2/3 majority, the remaining GB just had to fall in line to make it appear unanimous) I remember asking a GB member that it seemed they knew they knew info before other jws...he said it was not official until it was print in a WTS publication, as he picked up the recently delivered WT to his Bethel room off his desk. (Of course, we some GB shared their personal viewpoint with other jws before the printed version came out)

I stayed here while they were renovating it and jws visiting friends at Bethel could stay there (pre-renovation completion) Standish Arms Hotel (Brooklyn Heights, NYC): This building was also acquired and used as a residential property for Watchtower workers.
