LHG, "Example: you being told that somebody in the congregation is offended or ‘stumbled’ because of something you said, did, wore, etc… Therefore, because of Christian love, consideration, etc., you will stop doing the ‘offending’ thing.🙄 (Then again, you might stubbornly continue doing whatever and the control freaks will hate you.)😉" So true, always one but usually many, who do this and the elders can't handle that person, afraid of them, and rather pressure the one that person that was criticized to change. Like you, I just kept doing it; I didn't care what the elders thought of me on that point, so no power over me. As preferring to be told what to do, some jws are afraid of the elders that if they displease the elders, it is the same as displeasing their god and then that person won't get everlasting life on earth. I was raised in the jw nightmare, but was not obedient, come from a long line of "disobedient" female jws.

What Did You Do For Fun That You Felt The WT Frowned Upon?
by NotFormer inin the light of the lifting of sanctions on glass clinking and recent threads on chess and dvds of lord of the rings, was there anything you did for fun, as a hobby or for recreational purposes that you felt might be "taken the wrong way" if it came to the attention of the elders or sister busybody?.

Robin A. Townsend is not just a filmmaker. He is a force of reclamation. Raised inside the isolating grip of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and later abandoned by the system meant to protect him, Townsend transformed a life defined by trauma into an artistic powerhouse. His work spans continents, genres, and emotional registers—but at its core is one relentless drive: truth.

I called those people, The Holy Ones, and many times they were hiding the most evil things out of sight.

JWs can toast now….what’s next
by FFGhost inso you can see from multiple topics here (& elsewhere), based on gb update #4, jws now have permission to toast.. there’s been a boatload of “xyz is now allowed” over the past couple of years….beards, no ties in field service or at the kh, sister can wear pants at the kh & in field service…... what do you think is next?.
a lot of folks are speculating on birthday celebrations being allowed, and i agree that will eventually come, but i don’t think it is next.

Vidiot, this is what the elders showed me that said they could make rules, very open-ended. WT1985 7/1 p. 22 pp.18 "This does not mean, however, that Jehovah’s people do not need to observe any rules. The apostle Paul reminds us: “Let all things take place decently and according to order.” (1 Corinthians 14:40, NW Ref. Bi., footnote) A few rules may be needed at our Kingdom Halls, for example, to economize on the use of electricity or to prevent young children from using God’s house of worship as a playground after meetings. Family heads may need to make some orderly arrangements, such as providing for regular consideration of the daily Bible text in the home. In Bethel families there are rules, such as requiring that family members adorn the good news by modest dress and grooming. (1 Timothy 2:9) The “scrolls” to be opened during Jesus’ Thousand Year Reign will no doubt contain rules that will benefit mankind. It is good now to become accustomed to obeying healthful rules that are made for orderliness and out of consideration for others.—Revelation 20:12; 1 Corinthians 10:24; Philippians 2:3, 4."

Slimboyfat: Why did you decide to write a topic on this site saying you were going back to the Jehovah's Witnesses?
by silentbuddha inthe topic concerning why the other user allows jw's by to eat is what prompted this thought in my mind.
maybe i am not remembering this correctly, but seem to remember a number of years ago that you decided to stop posting here and then all of a sudden you posted that this was an apostate website, you didn't want to be here, and that you were returning to jehovah.
( i may be slightly off, but it was something along those lines.. i am just wondering if you ever offered an explanation of why you did that?.

SBF, "In the UK, groups stemming from Charles Taze Russell's Bible Student movement, which later evolved into Jehovah's Witnesses, still exist. These groups, known as Bible Students, maintain some of Russell's original teachings, while others have diverged in their interpretations. Some notable groups include the Associated Bible Students, the Dawn Bible Students Association, and the Free Bible Students." Use this info to make inquiries in the UK. There are 3 groups I visited near me in the US
still operating

Why "Removed" instead of "Disfellowshipped or Shunning"
by blondie ini was mulling this over last night...too much free time, i know.
both disfellowshipping and shunning indicate the action of avoiding someone, taking them out of your sphere of associates.
probably is a better sound bite to say "removed.
