When I was growing up (in the mid 80's) there was a brother who had recently moved to our hall who had previously been in Michael Jackson's hall, although this was not common knowledge. He had been an elder in Michael Jackson's congregation and had gone out in service with him regularly. I remember at one service meeting part about not listening to "music that debases" or some such nonsense, a sister made a comment about Michael Jackson and how there was no way that he could be a witness in good standing, and then this brother commented and refuted her, and the congregation just about erupted into a shouting match for a few minutes before the brother at the mike got everything back under control. It was pretty exciting and actually woke me up from my usual time-killing exercise of counting ceiling tiles.

did anyone see the Daily Show last night? (do you europeans get it on CNN or another channel? Here in the US it's on Comedy Central). They had a segment on "Miracles" and were talking about the plane crash in Toronto. John Stewart quoted a definition of miracles (similar to Terry's definition) and said so the "act of God involved in all this was actually the lightning striking the plane". It wasn't a miracle that everyone got out alive. It was due to the quick thinking on the part of all the people involved. Of course, he was very funny about it all. But I agree with him; a lot of things that getted marked down as "miracles" are actually people just showing good, quick judgement in challenging situations.

That publisher to elder book is definitely a joke. And the other book seems like it might be a bit "heretical", too. It also is a bit odd that the website seems to indicate that they live at Patterson (on the "About Us" page) but their website is called watchtowerfarm. Watchtower Farms and Patterson are two different sites in two different counties. I'm very anxious to see what happens with this site...

the multi-colored life savers. My siblings and I were allowed two packs of lifesavers each (for some reason, they were always the multi-colored fruit kind) for the four days of the convention. We would make notes on our programs and time their dispensal so that they'd last the whole four days.

Did you ever use these?
by Bumble Bee ini was cleaning out a closet today and came across some book bags.
when i went through them i found one of those bic pens that has the four different colours of ink, red, black, green and blue.
i used to use them to mark my wt different colours for the a and b portion of the answers etc.. anyone else use these?.

yeah, I remember being excited when they came out with those 10 color pens. So many more options! I remember that when we started the Revelation Book at the bookstudy, I decided I was going to underline all of my answers using a ruler, along with the multi-colored pen. It looked pretty fancy. I think all of the fancy underlining must have helped distract me from how illogical the content actually was.
