Don't be deceived - there are clever Jehovah's Witnesses about.
I seem to recall that there is even a section at the end about Jehovah in the NWT.
I have it on good authority that he is a Witness, but I have no proof
i don't know about anybody else, but i love the beautiful king james version.it contains no error and is perfect.there are no mistranslations in it,and none can be proven.i don't read or study anything else for spirituality.im like a tree that is planted by the water,i shall not be moved, amen, amen, hallelujah, praise jesus!!!!

i recently read an article about jw's that, if had the choice, would probably leave because of the deceptions, lies, etc., but don't because of family, friends, prestige, whatever, and instead lead a make-believe life going through the motions of being a loyal and believing follower of the watchtower organization.
most of those purported to be part of this non-believing/participating, but attending, jw population, are folks that have been associated with the jw's for a number of years, but, as many have, decided that the lies and constant changes (new light) just don't make sense anymore.
i would suspect that identifying those who just "go through the motions" of being a good jw would be difficult.
I don't disagree with a single thing you said wannaexit
how can those doing the monitoring not be affected by what they read here?.
how can anyone not be affected by the paedophilia scandal, the un scandal, the 1975 debacle?.
how do they find someone to read here and still stay a jw?.
Rick Ross!!! Don't make me laugh!!!!
"Brain washing" was invented by the Americans as an excuse for why their soldiers deserted in Korea. Anti-cult groups appropriated the language to suit their own agenda. "Brain washing" does not work - goodness knows the government has tried!!!
Penton has crossed a line. I don't think other academics will take him at all seriously after this!!!
1. He insults scholars he disagrees with such as Detlev Garbe, Gabriele Yonan and Bryan Wilson
2. Claims that ordinary Witnesses only helped others in case they could make a convert.
3. Says that the Jews are only interested in making money from the Holocaust and that Jehovah's Witnesses are the same.
4. Makes unsubstantiated claims about Rutherford's infidelity.
5. Misquotes and misinterprets a survivor memoir.
6. Accepts uncritially the testimony of the infamous Kommandant at Auschwitz, Rudolf Hoess, against ordinary Witnesses and promotes his claim that Witnesses ran skipping and smiling to their deaths.
7. He blames ordinary Jehovah's Witnesses for their own persecution and says that they deserved what they got for standing up to Hitler.
IT IS A TERRIBLE BOOK!!!!!
APOSTATES SHOULD REPUDIATE IT!!!!!

Why, are only fanatical APOSTATES allowed here???
i am currently following the ongoing saga of a person who is studying to be a jw and her unbelieving husband's attempts to sway her in this endeavor.
he has gotten her to read cofc and she's halfway through it, but nonetheless, she remains bound to the jws and wants to continue her persuit.
he has tried to call into question that the wts could have been appointed by jesus as the "faithful, discreet slave", but the person she is studying with flat out told her that jws do not believe that jesus chose the wts as the fds and, that they don't believe that they are the one chosen religion/church.
The proof is in the pudding, my friend...

there is no such thing as brain washing
we are all responsible for our own actions!!!
i am extremely skeptical about this, yet people on this forum seem to talk about it as though it were a fact.
so has anyone got any actual concrete proof?
here are the reasons why i don't think they do:.

I thought it was a doctrinal point, I did not realise it was a factual point
i would think sooner or later it is inevitable with all the stupid shit the governing body pulled over the last couple of years.
i can only imagine the angst many intelligent lawyers at bethel feel toward this braindead governing body of idiots.
bla bla bla...
apostates lost the plot
