just wondering what would happen if a brother saying a prayer in a meeting did it in the name of michael the archangel instead of closing the prayer with "jesus christ".

since jw's believe michael is jesus would he be counseled?

what if a brother used the name michael the archangel in their public talks instead of jesus?

Jesus said to pray in his name.

Many in the early church identified Jesus with Michael, JWs are not unique in making that connection.

As TD said, they only changed their view on this once. Their earlier view is complicated, but it didn't switch back and forward as the list suggests.

We had an old sister in our hall who didn't accept the new light and still insisted the great tribulation had already begun.

Pillowgate makes headlines in Finland

local newspaper in finland has published an article concerning wtbs:s "pillowgate@ videos.

the local "communications manager" of jehovah's witnesses - veikko leinonen - has declined to comment them.

according to him they are for internal use only.

It's "out of context", I suppose, in the sense that it's only intended to be seen by fully indoctrinated JWs at the core of the organisation, not for outsiders or less committed members to scrutinise. And in that sense, it's good that it's now being viewed out of context. Because it gives an insight into the minds of those at the heart of the organisation.

Jim Penton did post here, and as on Chanel C he was most interested in liberal politics, and the Israel/Palestine situation. If it wasn't really him, whoever it was did a good impersonation. But I'm convinced it was him.

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?

so my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.

now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.

we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

I'm pleased for you Xan, but a little trepidatious too. Because I've read so many similar experiences on this site (over nearly 20 years now). Unfortunately what often happens is that the JW relative shows unexpected human connection, but then JW guilt kicks in, no doubt involving great inner turmoil for the JW, and they feel compelled to follow it up with a restatement of their support for shunning policy and strict adherence resumes. In the JW world no unauthorised act of human kindness can go unpunished.
