Pope Francis: 'There Is No Hell'
by pleaseresearch inwow, now this is interesting.. in another interview with his longtime atheist friend, eugenio scalfari, pope francis claims that hell does not exist and that condemned souls just "disappear.
" this is a denial of the 2,000-year-old teaching of the catholic church about the reality of hell and the eternal existence of the soul.. https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/michael-w-chapman/pope-francis-there-no-hell.

If you're expecting a mass exodus anytime soon, FORGET ABOUT IT!
by nowwhat? ini have to make a token appearance at the k.h.
once a month or so and this week went to a different hall.
and believe me they are all still totally oblivious to all the negative news about the pedophiles and shunning that have come under scrutiny by the media and other governments.

Have you got any evidence that Watchtower has made money from their blood policy or literacy programme?
In my view Watchtower is in the worst position of any church of its size, and most churches of other sizes for that matter. Historically they relied on book sales and now they are selling off their assets to keep afloat. (Not to mention lawsuits, aging dependents, declining members in rich countries, increasing members in poor countries, and so on) What they will do when the money runs out is not clear. It seems that in their complacency they thought Armageddon would come before the money runs out.

Is "fornication" still used by Witnesses?
by careful inin 2013 the revised nwt came out and changed the old edition's "fornication" and its related words "fornicating," "fornicator" etc.
in all their roughly 70 occurrences.
has the word completely dropped from usage in the witness world?

If my pillow agrees that it's consensual is it still fornication?
Depends. Are you and your pillow lawfully married?

I inferred this from the paragraph.
What if, Slim, the "decline" in membership is deliberate and wanted by the powers who be? What if the org has decided that it is best to pare down and get rid of those who aren't loyal (true believers only) and those who will donate more more money ( true rich believers only need apply)?
I can see that what follows is an argument for WT promoting in third world countries. Which I don't see actually. (Why stop sending new Gilead missionaries and close down branches?) I think JWs are growing in third world countries for the more commonly cited reasons (lack of Internet access, education, low income, despair, more religious societies) rather than a result of a GB master plan.

OrphanCrow I think you are right that the GB don't want growth in third world countries (I have elsewhere argued this is why they closed down the missionary program of Gilead and now use the school to retrain existing staff - because third world converts cost money) and they would like to lose trouble makers too. I don't think they would say no to more members in wealthy countries, if they are loyal and contributing. And whatever they might wish for, I don't think it is in their hands because decline is developing a momentum of its own. To press too strongly the idea that even decline must be part of a GB masterplan appears to ascribe to them powers and abilities beyond what they display.

Lloyd’s new book
by jwfacts ini see there has already been discussion over lloyd’s new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
this includes discussion around his personality, motives and financial gains.
i have written a foreword for this book, because it is an important topic that has not been covered in such a complete format before.

The main problem is the frequent display of poor judgment. When Lloyd's group (as was then) outed people on Facebook, instead of apologising and trying to rectify the damage, he minimised the hurt and told people to stop complaining. When Crisis of Conscience was unavailable he printed his own copies to give as prizes on his channel. When preparing his new book he charged people to include their stories of leaving JWs at the end of the book. He apparently still doesn't see anything wrong with these decisions. This makes it problematic if he acts as a spokesperson because his judgements are often not sound. He was right to oppose the Russia ban, but frankly that should be an easy call to make, not a finely balanced decision.

That's fair enough Paul and let's hope the book helps people who need it. But can I say your latest videos are excellent, especially your son coming across weird terms like "objects of hatred" and "Babylon the Great". It really emphasises how strange JW commonplaces are and how they in no way help people understand the world, just fill people's heads with nonsense. The JWs who contact you sound unhinged.
I don't know how YouTube works but I reckon you should have got more money for your videos. I see most of your views come from one video about famous JWs. Are you sure you've turned on all the available ad buttons or whatever?

W5 Investigation
by Christian Gutierrez inhey guys!
i just want you guys to know that today is a really great day.
there are so many jehovah's witnesses that saw this documentary and were disgusted by watchtowers policy.

Well it will be their undoing in that case. They will go bankrupt. And then the two witness rule will be gone. One way or another it will have to go.

I think the report was very well done. It's a relief when news channels actually report something accurately because they so often make careless mistakes.
Did I understand correctly, the programme mentioned that the settlement in Candace Conti's case was $3 million? I thought the amount was to remain secret? If there are many such settlements the costs could quickly mount up. And in the class action lawsuit over $60 million?
If it's a choice between changing their two witness rule or going bust, I wonder which Watchtower will choose.
