uh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.
In modern parlance those letters deserve a trigger warning. In common sense terms be prepared to encounter some pretty twisted, manipulative language.
i read a comment somewhere that having a beard ( before such was allowed) was never a disfellowshippable offence.
but does that mean that no-one who grew a beard was ever eventually disfellowshipped?.
growing a beard when such was frowned upon would surely attract the attention of those with nothing better to do, and possibly lead to sniffing around to try and find things that the "disobedient" one was up to.
You can never say it has never happened, because there are over 100,000 congregations, and some wacky elders out there, but it was never policy to disfellowship someone for a beard, I’ve never heard of a case, and it seems unlikely. If ever there was such a case the elders involved might explain the situation with reference to other factors in the case such as attitude and other behaviours rather than saying they disfellowshipped because of a beard alone.
I wonder if anyone has ever been disfellowshipped for a tattoo. Not for a discreet one but for a visible one with a dubious depiction, or all over face or head, I can imagine it happening, though I don’t know any examples of that either.
amazing new light in the latest morning worship by gary breaux.
the gb "never lie or deceive us.
we can have absolute trust in the governing body".. he then makes a very helpful point, so as to avoid being deceived and avoid lies.
Sounds aff pist to me. ⛷️ 🥴
go listen to the opening verse of the smallest man who ever lived..
Is this what passes for music these days?

No that’s not his game. He might have actually had some sort of case to argue (although probably still lose) against Andrew Gold and Dr Sohom Das for likening him a psychopathic and narcissistic cult leader. Instead he decided to harass a bunch of people who simply repeated true things he said about himself because he perceived them to be easier targets. He is a bully and a coward as well as incredibly thick. What a terrific combination.
the jw website is currently featuring a piece: the shell of the diabolical ironclad beetle—was it designed?
it is part of their regular tedious 'was it designed?
' series that purports that very very specific animal species must have been specifically designed because of some seemingly amazing feature.. but they seem completely unaware that this directly contradicts their notion that only very broad 'kinds' were required on the mythical 'ark'.
The Bible doesn’t say snakes could talk. It says a snake talked to Eve and later it clarified that it was Satan the Devil that spoke by the snake.
Did you know that house cats are descended from snakes? How do I know? My cat told me. 🐈

final song for this year's convention.
I think the “Christmas” angle is overplayed.
They are working on a film of Jesus’ life. Is this song being released to coincide with the release of the first instalment of the film? Plus it’s summer, not Christmas time. And the song also emphasises praise to Jah for the birth of Jesus, not worship of Jesus himself. It only uses “Christmas” language in so far as it’s biblical language from the gospels. It’s not exactly “away in a manger”.
that would stumble even me
Yeah, me too. 😆 I hate Christmas. Apart from the food, I don’t mind the food.
I could see them relaxing birthdays, however, but not related to the new song.

final song for this year's convention.
The announcements say there are no plans to include this song in future print editions of the song book. However I rather interpret this as a demotion of the significance of print publications rather than the song. Until now there has been relative parity of provision between print and electronic media. Is this a sign they intend to phase out print altogether?
i like to at least try to stay current with developments in artificial intelligence rather than get stuckwith first impressions and knee-jerk snap judgments that circulate among the public who really don'tinvest any in-depth analysis in forming their views.with that having been stated, i turn to perplexity a.i.

answer.
A lot of it sounds plausible, but some parts less so. It claims the Governing Body has a high turnover of members and that this causes instability. But that’s nonsense. Governing Body members hold their position for life and only a few have ever resigned or been forced out. Only Raymond Franz definitely resigned for doctrinal reasons, possibly Morris too, but we don’t know. The other two, Greenlees and Chitty, were expelled for moral reasons. In all other cases (around 30 individuals as far as I can make out) Governing Body members served until death or are current members. In no sense can this be described as a high turnover.
