She should be held accountable for all the hours the professionals put in looking for her. Our tax dollars were spent needlessly on someone who was playing a game of hide-n-seek.
She could have left a message on someone's phone, door or car. Even with just one of the service providers for the wedding or the local police...

well, the elders were supposed to have met on monday, april 18 to decide if they would disfellowship me for adultery.
there is no question of my guilt.
not a hard decision.
Although not as bold and visible as you have been, I might find myself in a similar situation so I'm watching to see how your 'situation' plays out.

i remember when i joined the jw's about 18 years ago, i was single just like today, and i never really wanted to marry a jw.
i would have liked to get married, but not with a jw.
i believed in their religion, but that was the spiritual side of me.
I was never interested in witness guys. Way too condescending.
Oh wait. There was one back in high school. We were best friends and he told everyone that we were going to get married. It was news to me!! Nice enough guy but last time I saw him, I was so glad that we did not hook up.
I've always been much more interested in worldly guys.

KLS: Was given the name Christine at birth but it was changed by my parents. So i have two birth certificates with two different namesSame thing happened with me. My parents originally named me Barbara Jean. Changed it a few weeks later. I've never seen the original birth certificate but my 2nd one says I'm Denise. And I like my name. Always have. while cleaning cupboards today, i had court tv on in the other room, listening to the commentary about the mj trial.. i was pretty surprised when they started talking about his going back to jehovah's witnesses and that he had taken his children to a kingdom hall in solvang (near where he lives) around easter time.
so it was for the memorial.
they said that since then, he has been attending pretty regularly with his kids, but that because he is disfellowshipped (and they had this information correct, saying he wrote a letter disassociating himself many years ago, but that he is technically disfellowshipped) no one will talk to him.. so, is he trying to make a comeback?
Hmmmm. Time to drop off some stuffed lamgs at the solvang hall!

I've often watched the party @ Times Square on tv but never celebrated NewYears', per se.
JWs would be counseled for participating in wordly party. And off course the pagan influence of the evening!

One thing that so completely comes across is tremendous negative emotion from you. I'm not sure it would be good to send this to your 'friend'.
On the same note, I think the intensity of your feelings that came thru prove that it is important for YOU to express what you are thinking. YOU are the one who will benefit the most. And that's good. REALLY good. Here to share with us, or keep in a private journal. (Here helps us voyeurs(sp?), too..!!!)
That JW Love is just too icky. Thanks for reminding how happy I really am to be away from it.
If you do decide to reply, I don't think your 'friend' will even read past the first 2 paragraphs. S/He will probably tell many others you've 'gone off the deep end' without giving any thought or taking time to ready what was actually said.
Sometimes saying nothing or just very little is much more powerful.
More like a simple card that says something to the effect of: While I'm sad that we are taking divergent paths, please know that you have been an important person in my life and I wish you well in everything you do. I will respect your wishes to not contact you further, but please know that my door is always open if you ever need a friend.
This way there is nothing to criticize. No hostility. No dogmaticism.
