I wish i was adopted...

yet again my dear matt wanted to make an attempt to break the ice with my father and his stupid new wife, whom i feel no responsibility to like or accept because she's young enough to be my father's daughter (she's 29 and my father's 60!!!

) and she's trifling and two faced.

i honestly feel that she's just with him for the money.

Sounds like Matt's a real decent guy. I think I'd be inclined to find other associates than my own difficult, rude and judgemental family.

OK smarty pants, post something simple that most people don't know.

ok, lets see if you guys know the answer to this simple question.. .

if you have a car with a mechanical speedometer and odometer, not digital, and if you back up, will your mileage on the dial back up?.

7 miles on the odometer and you back up, for a few hundred feet, will the mileage also back up slowly to 47,108.6 and so on....?.

50 years of children dying for the Watchtower.

i'm sure there may be earlier accounts of jehovah's witness children dying due to the watchtower's evil blood policy but i came across this one and had to post it.

boys and girls like renate gross have suffered and died for decades with no real end in sight.

we may not know them but we should never forget them - i don't think any of us here do.. .

I can't believe that I used to find this stuff upbuilding. It's simply heartbreaking and so utterly criminal.

As a side note:

A letter written by the deceased.
That's a little too personal for a witness funeral, isn't it?
I've been to dozens of witness funerals and don't ever remember more than a a few sentences about the person being spoken.
On re-reading, it seems that her words actually made the points of the talk.....

Did you ever get a speeding ticket or make an accident, serving Jehovah?

i know an elder who made a couple of accidents and scrapped his car more than once going to the kingdom hall or assembly hall out of town.

i guess that the angels weren't looking after him that day.... i even remember a brother making an accident with another brother in the field service...lol.

Oh My Gosh.... HOW could I have forgotten???

An event that deeply impacted my life.

I was 14 back in 1975. Feb 16. On the way to Assembly Hall in Monroe NY for special talk. Two families (Close friends of mine) were involved in a head-on collision. Father was killed instantly. Mother was critical. One son was badly injured and died the next day. He was 9 or 10 years old.
The other son is now serving at Brooklyn Bethel.

It was terrible.
The mother never really recovered from that horror.
She died 2 or 3 years ago after spending nearly 2 decades indoors - isolated from friends and even her surviving son.

What's odd, I remember at the memorial for them, we were crying from such overwhelming sadness but also talking about how it would only be a few months until we saw them again. There was much speculation that the dead would be raised in 'reverse order' and so they would be amongst the first to be resurrected -- September / October 1975.

Odd how I didn't think of this report when I posted the other. It had dramatic impace on my emotional development.

after years of waiting, i finally turned 18. i remember distinctly that my mother said during an argument that i would not have to attend meetings once i turned 18. well that was a lie.

she denied ever having said such, and pulled the "under my roof" card.

so now she is saying i have to continue attending meetings until i move out.

Having a job that keeps you busy until 7pm can help ALOT.
Colleges have night classes.
There are few 17/18 year olds here going thru the same thing as you. We hear from them almost daily. Some days are harder than others but if she's making meeting attendance a condition of support, you may have to suck it up.
Start saving your money so you can get out on your own soon.

Are you still in school? Planning on going to college??
Will your parent(s) help you pay for college?

Not being sarcastic. It was really said. Actually she was just a little bit shy of making her hours but she was given full credit for her 60 hours and met her auxillary pioneer quota.
