i'm almost to the point of an emotional breakdown.
i go out with this guy he's 20, a jw and i'm a 16yr.
he basically breaks all the rules in the book; adultry, sex;oral, drugs, drinking, partying, he's even growing a little chin,bottom and top lip hair.
I know at 16 you are in love and I remember that age. But listen to this... the JW religion consumes some people. He might be able to leave one day, but if he doesn't you are setting yourself for years of pain and emotional suffering.
He needs to figure what he is going to do with HIS life before you two decide together what you are going to do together.

i tried to tell her that daniel fitzwater was not the man he pretended to be.
Isn't it sad when the cops and the government act more honorably towards a child than a religious organization that is supposed to represent god?

So if you are going against Bible truth, you aren't apostate, just Bible truth AS TAUGHT by JWs. hahhahaaa...

this is by no means an original idea, but even if the jws have been right all along, i don't care.
if pleasing god means not knowing what to think or feel without checking with headquarters first, then i don't need him.

Even if they are right? Nope. No way.
I also do not believe in the God they teach about, they call him Jehovah yet paint him as this terribly punisher, creator all living things that wants to destroy anything that questions the rules. I do not see it. My God is one of love and peace and FREEDOM and FREE CHOICE. After all, that was what he gave Adam and Eve.... let's not forget that. FREE WILL AND FREE CHOICE.

I always thought the blood card was so stupid. Sorry, but it is. Always planning on that terrible accident that will be life threatning, but also planning that this world is ending and everything in it, why not just have faith in armeggedon and leave it up to the individual if something happens?
basically i have been reading the bible lately & doing extensive research on the web and have come across many things in my search...any imput put on various scriptures or sites i would appreciate.... .
first of all i found more than a few religions that resemble the teaching of the jw's...so can they honestly say they are the only ones with the "truth"?

When you look at the Bible and read the Old testament, all those old rules no longer apply. JWs don't even think they are applicable, women are no longer required to sleep outside the camp during their periods, we no longer sacrifice animals to God, etc. So if the Old testament was replaced by Jesus and his death covered our sins (as taught by JWs and most of Christianity) then really his teachings should be the basis of the religion. He basically taught that the "rules" and all the mumbo-jumbo that the Pharissees were selling was just crap. He taught that you should love your fellowman. That was the bottom line. He taught the "golden rule"
Everything else is non-important. You can read the bible as much as you want to, but if you can't love people the way he did, UNCONDITIONALLY, you have lost the whole meaning of it.
I am not a big Bible person... but I do know what it means to believe in God and be a good person. JWs spend so much time reading all these new magazines, when it truly is simple. Yet, they will condemn a person like me who actually is listening to the real message.
I truly hope you find some comfort and answers here. This messageboard has been a godsend for me.
the light faded for me when i was twelve.
i asked my uncle what happened to all the people who couldn't be reached by the "truth" in far off lands, or little kids whose parents didn't believe...ect... "would they still die in armagedon?
" he answered yes, and from there on, whether it was bs or not, i couldn't believe.
About the sister in the wheelchair, I can actually imagine in her mind she isn't depressed because she must believe soooo fully in the new paradise she can't allow herself to see the reality of her situation. She can't comprehend that she is stuck in a wheelchair, otherwise her mental state would shatter. She has to ignore reality and keep believing for fear that this is all for her. My mother is in the worst state of denial, and always comments on how "happy" she is, when her situation clearly shows otherwise.
But what did it for me? Actually nothing to do with doctrine. It had to do with the people. They never were nice and welcoming and social... they didn't include me because I came from a single parent household, and we were poor, we always rated second class. I worked so hard to gain their approval but it didn't work. When I started socializing with worldlings they accepted me and thought I was funny, I enjoyed hanging out with them. It was at that point I realized that "worldly" people were normal. That they were super nice, and I made some wonderful friends. I learned what UNCONDITIONAL love meant. Then it all fell into place. The Witnesses lie about worldly people... I have only seen good things and had wonderful friendships and met a wonderful husband.
when i first met my wife, she was not a jw.
i was baptized at the age of 12. to make a long story short, some of the other youths in the congregation followed my lead and took non jw boyfriends and girlfriends.
well the brothers decided to point me out specifically as i was the only one who cared.
I was the goodie goodie pioneer girl who got baptized at 11 yoa and pioneered her way through home schooling. But things change quickly if you deviate off their tiny little path of stupid rules.
All I can say is this... I'm extremely happy in my life, have a wonderful husband, wonderful house and living well is the best statement. The JWs I knew that did follow all the rules were very unhappy, I'm glad I decided to quit trying to jump through stupid hoops for idiots.
