They won't change the rule on DF'ing (although it would make sense) because they keep their "faithful" members very ignorant that way. Ignorance breeds conformity to the organization.
Think about it, if we suddenly were allowed to enjoy family dinners, picnics, days at the beach, etc... the "faithful" ones would soon see we lived great lives, had happiness, and would wonder why their lives weren't as wonderful as they had been promised. Shielding them from the real truth, keeps them following the carrot.
can you tell me whether the taking of blood is a conscience matter or a disfellowshipping matter?.
i ask this because i have just come away from a heated discussion with my parents and they insist that taking blood or blood products has always been a matter of conscience and no one has ever been disfellowshipped for taking blood.
they say that a question was raised at the service meeting over the new blood card/documents whether taking blood fractions was breaking gods law and the presiding overseer j.h said that taking blood has always been a conscience matter and never was anyone disfellowshipped for it.. is this true?
I think what I have issue with is YOUR MEDICAL INFORMATION IS CONFIDENTIAL... it should be up to you and your Doctor what medicine you take, what treatmenst you take, etc.... I have a best friend whose husband has cancer and I don't know the specific names of the drugs he is on, all I know is he is getting treated for it.
I think it's illogical that people butt into your CONFIDENTIAL medical history.
well my sister and her husband are now working towards figuring out the custody issues and divorce.
both being very civil about it.
my sister will most likely be disfellowshipped as she is with another man (a very nice british guy, actually).. .
I might be able to do it if the Sunday morning consisted of a few bloody marys.
She is lucky to have you, show her support, she might come around eventually on her own.

Actually, the only time I feel depressed is when I get long WTS inspired emails from my mom, or her lectures on the subject.
I am always happy and feel great otherwise.
last night i was channel surfing when i came across a discovery health program that followed cases in an emergency room.
one of them was about a jw woman who had some sort of head injury.
to be honest, i did not watch the whole thing, but i did manage to record it on my dvr while i watched other things.
I believe in FREE CHOICE, whether it's ill idvised or ill informed, I still believe in it. So I stand by anyone that will respect the choice a person makes.
However if my husband had been on that show, I know he'd have been in tears offereing the Doctors any amount of money if they could do anything to save me (or at least I hope thats what he would do) I can't imagine at that moment in time being anything but visibly upset.
It makes no sense, but it's a choice.
as mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.
we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).
surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

Do you think that they are demonized or that it's against your conscience to go to one? Is it a waste of money?
Just curious... I've been to a few and consider it entertainment. I don't live my life based on what a psychic says, although I have been given some interesting advice before. I think it's one of the things that I wanted to do after getting "out" and wasn't criminal, wouldn't hurt no one and wasn't a tattoo. I was always curious and finally let go of the feeling that getting a reading would demonize my life. It's laughable now,.... the only thing they do is talk for 20 mins and charge you an arm and a leg.
