If she had it done, I think I might try, but I don't think it would matter much to me. I don't care if anyone talks to me or not, I have moved on, moved out of town, etc.
But everyone makes really good points, thank you.
my sister and i are both df'd.. but difference is she is from canada, i am in florida.
she grew up and was kinda abandoned and abused and drifted between family members who would care for her and she ended up being baptized at 16 yoa by some local elders.
she's now 40 yoa and has been df'd most of her adult life.

sometimes, i think my husband is much more church oriented than i am.
i still get upset when i attend church, but lately he has been putting the push on me for us to go back to his church where he grew up in.
he would like to start taking our daughter so she has a somewhat structured religious belief.
We share the same MORAL beliefs, not exact religious beliefs. Neither of us attend any church services, but we both believe in some type of higher power, and my hubby prays almost every night, which I think is sweet. I am more liberal and open minded than he is.
i was just watching nightline (i think it was) with diane sawyer.
the stars from ocean's twelve were on there.
i am not a person who normally gives too much praise to celebs or athletes but these guys/gals (brad pitt, catherine zeta-jones, andy garcia, george clooney, matt damon and don cheadle) were pretty brilliant.
I think it has to do with personality all the way. They are talented first off but they use their people skills to get what they want.
Personality, looks, and determination.
But of course I love the people who have tons of determination and they are like 40 or 50 yoa and still waiting for their "big break" at what point do these people realize they aren't going to make it and get a REAL JOB ???

a pirated cd with kingdom melodies, first said to have been done by george benson and prince and their wives and later by george benson and celine dion and still later by george benson and an anonymous sister, is creating a stir in jehovist circles.
someone became suspicious and called george benson who told him that it was stolen by a brother who had left patterson and was put on a cd and distributed illegally.
someone else called the audiovisual dept.
The thought of Prince singing a kingdom melody creeps me out more than him girating on stage and grabbing his crotch... I mean I'd rather see that anyday.
just curious if jw urban legends are the same all over the world...?
i remember growing up in canada, there's two that really stand out in my mind.
1) the smurfs walking out of the kh.
OMG, I am reading these DYING laughing... I remember being told Smurfs were demonized, I remember the John Denver concert thing, and I remember the demonized garage sale items. It's so weird, I forgot all that crap.... ahhahaaaaa

It's true that it might be an isolated case/offer. I keep trying to talk her into it. I think it could set precedence for the rest of us,,,, it might actually cause a division and a seperation. I would love that. Another group of people "stumbled" or the elder himself might be disciplined. But I do think it's worth a shot.
I just dug up pics of myself getting baptized the other day, it's so hilarious, I see this little blonde KID in a pink bathingsuit, I hadn't even hit puberty yet, no breasts, just a little KID. Fast forward to 18 and I could have passed for 25 yoa. I was mature. It's laughable talking a child into a life long commitment.
new to this site, not new to the internet or message boards, so i hope i get the hang of this site soon and "get" what's going on.. i'm 30 yoa, live in fl, happily married, living a very normal traditional lifestyle in my new house with our cute poodle.
i am df'd and proud of it.
was raised as a jw and spent the first 20 years of my life under the influence, the last 10 years happily living life!.
I meant groan as in.... augh... I'm a newbie. I hate being a newbie. I belong to another message board (totally unrelated topic) and I'm an oldie there.
But I'm really glad to be here!!! I am reading but I don't think I will be able to go back and read every post out of the thousands of old pages. LOL
every time i speak to an active jw in my congregation, they don't give me the impression that they are slowing down.
if i say that i see less jw's on the street knocking on doors, they will say that many are working full time.
they will also probably say that the hall is always full of people.. i don't go to the hall anymore, so i can't say if the hall is full or not, but i notice that there are way less jw's going door to door than before in this area.
I think the growth has always been attributed to so many Witnesses having kids, getting them baptized and counting them as publishers. I know I pioneered for like 8 years and never talked anyone into becoming a witness.
I keep thinking that people are going to wake up... I mean seriously, the end was supposed to be here by now. It's 2004... 2004 - 1914 = 90 years. What happens in 2014 ????
so mrs. kwin, like myself, has started the fade.
she's getting visits or calls 2 to 3 times a week from jw's in the hall.
what do you do when you get these visits?
Say "thanks but we're not intersted and no need for you to come by again" and that's all.
JW's shouldn't be like used car salesman that HOUND you, for goodness sakes, let people live their lives. Of course you are lucky that you are married and won't be threatened with DF'ing right now, but if they ever see anything that they can hang you with, be prepared.
I drifted away and was able to for 5 years before they caught up with me, then they dropped the gable and judged me and DF'd me even though I hadn't been to a meeting in 5 years.
